Matt Hotch V Lux – wins again

By Paul Crowe

Matt Hotch once again takes all the marbles in the Biker Build Off. His V-Lux beat all comers and won the vote which was announced at the Hard Rock Cafe Friday night. His V-Lux, is a great display of creativity and it pays, too. He sold the bike for $225,000! I guess that covers the cost of the $15,000 rear wheel. Almost forgot, they have the coverage tonight at 9PM on … [Read more...]

Riding season delayed – please hold

By Paul Crowe

All available weather representatives are busy, to expedite your request, press 1 if you do not find 8 inches of fresh wet snow amusing, press 2 if the sound of snowblowers is getting old, press 3 if you needed 4 wheel drive to go to the store this morning, press 4 if your power went out due to the heavy wet snow, press 5 if all of these choices apply ... I'm sorry, that is an … [Read more...]

Smartire tire monitor

By Paul Crowe

Smartire Systems has a tire pressure and temperature sensor for motorcycles that monitors both while you ride. The sensor is mounted inside the tire by using a band clamp on the wheel. Remount and rebalance, then install the digital display and you're ready. Could be a nice … [Read more...]

Hokey Spokes

By Paul Crowe

They're made for bicycles but there's no reason you can't put Hokey Spokes on your motorcycle. These LED blades that attach to the wheel spell out messages or make designs as you ride. Hmm... Pimp my bike. Funny thing is, I think I saw a similar product at the SEMA show for cars mounted on some 22 inch or 26 inch wheels and they were thousands of dollars. These are $29.95. … [Read more...]

Jim Feuling

By Paul Crowe

With all of this talk of the Hayabusa V8, I neglected to mention the Feuling W3. Jim Feuling, who passed away in 2002, was a prolific inventor and engineer. I first noticed him back around 1990 or so when he developed 4 valve heads for the Harley Davidson Evo engine. I thought of him again the other day when I saw the rerun of a Biker Build Off episode where Cory Ness built his … [Read more...]
