Harley Davidson slowing down

By Paul Crowe

Is this related to my prior post in any way? U.S. retail sales of Harley-Davidson motorcycles during the first quarter of 2005 have been relatively flat with the same period last year-falling short of our expectations. Despite our continued optimism for the year, we feel it is prudent to limit short-term production growth, maintaining demand in excess of … [Read more...]

Choppers peaking?

By Paul Crowe

Everything runs in cycles, fads come and go, what remains is the long term base. The Kneeslider is making a prediction here, I'm going on the record to say the huge fascination with choppers has peaked. Choppers will continue to be built and sold, money will still be made but the growth period is over. Choppers are not functional in the way most motorcycles are, choppers … [Read more...]

Revetec engine

By Paul Crowe

There are a lot of alternative engine designs and technologies out there, more than a person can keep up with. This one, the Revetec, was pointed out to me (Thanks, Aaron), and comes from Australia. Valentino Rossi wins Jerez

By Paul Crowe

Valentino Rossi may be every bit as good as everyone, including me, thinks he is. First race of the season at Jerez and his first win of the season. It was close with a last turn tussle with Sete Gibernau but first across the finish line is what counts. … [Read more...]

The motorcycle auction I mentioned here has come and gone and the high dollars went to the Harleys. There was a Velocette for $27,000 and Vincent for $24,000 but the highest prices were Harleys. One was a really nice looking HD board track racer that went for $27,250. Interesting results. You can see them all here. … [Read more...]

V Max modifications

By Paul Crowe

A couple of years ago I sold my second V Max, right now I wish I had it back. Everyone knows what the V Max is, it's a 20 year old model, sold by Yamaha every year with brand new paint. It's been out so long they even repeat the colors they offer. There were almost no changes over the years, slightly larger fork tubes and very minor carb changes, other than that, it's a 20 year … [Read more...]
