The Kneeslider Feature Motorcycles at Vintage Days

By Paul Crowe

AMA Vintage Days 2009It’s always nice to see a story online about interesting bikes, though, seeing it in front of you and having the opportunity to talk to the builder is better. But, how many of us have the time to travel around the country to see one bike we might be interested in, I’m guessing not very many, so if you can gather a number of these bikes in one place and add those to many thousands of others worth seeing in their own right, well, the trip becomes a no brainer.

After updating the post about the Vincati with a note that it would be at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, I began thinking about several others that would be there, too.

The very popular Royal Enfield Musket, built by Aniket Vardhan, will also be there. A lot of you really like this superbly engineered 700cc V-Twin built from two 350cc singles and you can see it up close at Mid Ohio. It’s a great looking bike, I know I’ll be checking it out.

Of course, some of the TTXGP competitors will be in the paddock for the eGrandPrix, Mission Motors is already signed up for sure and I expect many others will show up, too. If you want to see these battery powered racebikes, not only on display but in action on the track, Vintage Days is the place to be.

These are just the motorcycles among the recent posts here, I’ll add others to the list if I find out in time, so I’ll repeat my strong suggestion, if you have nothing else extremely pressing the weekend of July 24th to 26th, make the trip to Mid Ohio. The location is easily accessible to a wide swath of the country and there is so much to see, it is without doubt, one of the best motorcycle events of the summer.

What do I think? I think that my not being able to make it out to Mid-Ohio is a damn shame. Going to be a fantastic show…

Awww geeee …. I’d love to go but hey, it’s 4000 kms to get there. Then I guess it’d be about that back home again, eh?

Guess I’ll have to depend on Paul for more excellent coverage.

I’m going out there to help cover the event for Azhar Hussain, the founder of the TTXGP. I’ll be taking a ton of pictures and we’re taking some High Def video. Working on live webcast of the event as well.

I plan on bringing my original paint 1924 Harley-Davidson JDCA to the event as part of the AMA Hall of Fame’s celebration. I plan on riding it in the parade. It’s likely to be the oldest bike in the parade as it is from 1924, the year the AMA was founded.
