Team MOMBA Swap Meet Superbike

By Paul Crowe

Building a racing motorcycle can be a great way to spend a lot of money, sometimes with little to show for it in the end if you're not careful and that's why it was interesting to see the Team MOMBA (Mid Ohio Motorcycle Build Attempt) project. I had heard of this quite a few months ago and forgot about it until the November issue of Motorcyclist magazine came out with a feature … [Read more...]

How Practical are Literbikes on the Street?

By Paul Crowe

We've been writing for a long time about today's showroom stock literbikes. They are built by the factories for the single purpose of winning races and due to the requirements of the various sanctioning bodies, they also appear for sale at your local dealer with turn signals and mirrors. The funny thing is, quite a few people buy them and adamantly state they can use the … [Read more...]

Baker Drivetrain N1 Drum

By Paul Crowe

The International Speed Trials are over and the record set earlier this week by the BUB streamliner, piloted by Chris Carr at 350.884mph remains in the books despite the best efforts of the other teams to answer the call. The first record this week set by Ack Attack at 342.797 fell after just one day when the BUB team made their runs. On Wednesday, Sam Wheeler's E-Z Hook … [Read more...]

The BUB team sends word the motorcycle speed record set by Ack Attack just one day earlier is history because the BUB boys raised it a bit higher. The BUB streamliner, piloted by Chris Carr, set the record at 350.884mph. Chris, an AMA Grand National champion, who knows quite a bit about going fast on surfaces other than asphalt, flew down the salt one way at 354.832mph and … [Read more...]

Motorcycle Streamliner Sets New Speed Record

By Paul Crowe

Ack Attack, the twin Hayabusa powered streamliner sponsored by Top 1 Oil set a new speed record at the BUB International Motorcycle Speed Trials at Bonneville with a two run average of 342.797 mph. The speed trials began yesterday and run through Thursday. This beats the old record set by the twin Harley Davidson Easyriders streamliner 16 years ago. They may try to improve … [Read more...]
