Doers Builders and Positive People

AND Motorcycles by Julian Farnam

By Paul Crowe

Once again, a comment on one post deserves a post of its own and Todd's comment on Julian Farnam's A-N-D Vehicles company is a great example. I had never noticed Julian's motorcycles before, but after seeing his frame and front end work it's obvious he deserves a closer look. The bikes shown here are designed using, in one case, a Yamaha RZ350 engine and in the other a … [Read more...]

Street Trackers From Mule Motorcycles

By Paul Crowe

A few months back, I came across an article on one of Richard Pollock's street trackers. The particular bike in question was a Yamaha XS650 powered special, with a Buell front fork, custom pieces throughout and it just looked right, everything was where it was supposed to be without any excess hardware anywhere. Digging a little deeper, I found Richard had previously been … [Read more...]

Tryphonos Hub Center Steering Sportbike Design

By Paul Crowe

The Tryphonos, named after designer / builder Mike Tryphonos, is a hub center steering British motorcycle that first appeared in his engineering dissertation in 1990 and gradually evolved as he produced a series of prototypes building on the lessons learned at each stage. Supercharged NOS Honda Gold Wing GL1200 Cafe

By Paul Crowe

Older Honda Gold Wings have a pretty devoted following and sometimes their owners just keep tinkering as they try to get their ride to match that idea they have in mind. Kit Motorcycles, the EPA and the DMV

By Paul Crowe

It looks like California is holding up a lot of kit bike registrations due to the actions of one motorcycle shop. It seems they were building a lot of kit bikes from Custom Chrome, ignoring the 24 bike per year limit and as a result, anyone with one of the Custom Chrome kits has his Special Construction registration on hold until the California DMV finishes their investigation. … [Read more...]

Roadstercycle V-Twin and V-4 trikes

By Paul Crowe

Got a note from Jack Fleming who is building a trike called the Roadstercycle. He has 2 versions, a 32 and a 34, which is 3 wheels 2 cylinders or 3 wheels 4 cylinders. The 32 is powered by a Harley Davidson twin cam while the 4 cylinder version has a Yamaha V-max engine. Handle bar steering, Wilwood disc brakes, they're street legal in California where he makes … [Read more...]
