A few days ago I mentioned the Electra Cruiser which looks pretty interesting but doesn't appear to be a performance bike in any way. Sometimes you think more along the lines of electric scooters like the Vectrix when someone says battery powered. The other day some folks were talking about the new electric powered Sting Ray bicycle, very cool, if you're twelve years old. Well … [Read more...]
Hellcat’s for the stars
Waiting to get my haircut yesterday, I was leafing through People magazine (no bike magazines available) and I came across a picture of Brad Pitt riding down the street on his F113 Hellcat. Then I'm looking a little further and there is Tom Cruise getting on his motorcycle, an F113 Hellcat. I think Confederate Motorcycles has the PR game mastered. At $61,000, they're a lot less … [Read more...]
More motorcycle powered cars
Several times I've mentioned the shops building cars powered by motorcycle engines because the engines are just so powerful and their size so compact. I dropped by Z Cars and now I notice their Tiger Z100WR that is powered by two ZX12R engines and manages 0-60 in a mere 2.9 seconds. That's as fast or faster than most bikes. The plain old Z100 uses two ZX9 engines so it only … [Read more...]
Orange County NAPA Drag Bike

They haven't released pictures yet but times are in the 9 second range. That doesn't sound like your average OCC theme bike. The Kneeslider: Orange County Choppers for sale … [Read more...]
Electra Cruiser
This has apparently been out for quite a while but I just ran across it, it's the Electra Cruiser or Electric Hog as it used to be known. Constructed by the Vogelbilt Corporation of Oak Beach, NY, it looks like a Harley that's been completely refitted with 10 batteries, a 5 speed transmission, a 78hp electric motor and a belt drive system. It has a top speed of 80mph and a … [Read more...]
V8 motorcycles and Glenn Curtiss
Sometimes it's easy to look at some new creation and think it's the first time anyone ever thought of it. V8 motorcycles have been tried before by a number of companies but how far back do they go? Glenn Curtiss made one back in 1907 and went 136mph on it. Glenn was an aviation pioneer but started out and always remained a tool guy. This V8 motorcycle is a good example of the … [Read more...]
