V-Max by NLC

By Paul Crowe

As I was poking around on the German custom bike sites I came across No Limit Customs and their V-Max called Asmodis. I saw a photo of this bike somewhere else and it was the engine that caught my attention so I figured I'd follow up. Interesting bike, almost nothing left of an original V-Max except for the engine. I notice it has the requisite huge rear tire and what looks … [Read more...]

Deep Bull CBR900RR

By Paul Crowe

Spaehn-Racing, a German custom bike shop, has taken a Honda CBR900RR and tweaked it a bit, the result is a bike they call the Deep Bull. Besides the handmade 4 into 1 into 4 stainless exhaust all exiting on the right, it has a big, ... um, large, ... enormous rear tire, a 10 inch wide rear wheel with a 280/35R-18 Metzler. They do this sort of thing to all sorts of current … [Read more...]

700hp Hayabusa and DynoJet limits

By Paul Crowe

For no particular reason, I was thinking about that 700 horsepower Hayabusa and I thought I would look up the dynos that Dynojet offers and see what they can handle. Looks like they better rethink the capacity of those models, they only go to 750hp. Yeah, ... only. Next year, they might come up short. The Kneeslider: Suzuki Hayabusa for sale … [Read more...]

Build or Bust, revisited

By Paul Crowe

A little while ago I wrote about the show, Build or Bust and I wasn't very impressed. Last night I was channel surfing and came across it again. The guest builder was all business and the Exile Choppers crew wasn't saying too much as he worked. Steady, methodical and in the end, he wins the bike. He was almost done and they told him if he could start it and do a burnout before … [Read more...]

V Max modifications

By Paul Crowe

A couple of years ago I sold my second V Max, right now I wish I had it back. Everyone knows what the V Max is, it's a 20 year old model, sold by Yamaha every year with brand new paint. It's been out so long they even repeat the colors they offer. There were almost no changes over the years, slightly larger fork tubes and very minor carb changes, other than that, it's a 20 year … [Read more...]

Chopper vs Sportbike Build Off

By Paul Crowe

After the last few days of thinking about the possibility of a sport bike build off, a few things slowly emerged in my mind. Do you see what I see? Take a look at yesterday's post about Tony Foale and run down the list of items in his seminar. Then mentally change channels and picture the shops you see in the chopper build offs. Then look again at that list, then back to the … [Read more...]
