Moto Guzzi Superchargers

By Paul Crowe

You can find turbos and superchargers for most of the Japanese bikes these days but I haven't seen much for Italian bikes. Koehler, a German company, makes this Moto Guzzi supercharger and it looks really nice. Of course, the Guzzi V-twin is mounted transverse in the frame so a blower just fits in so neatly. Sometimes, when an engineering project looks right there's a good … [Read more...]

Pantera Dragster

By Paul Crowe

When I mentioned extended swingarms the other day, I asked why the V-twin chopper guys weren't doing more of it instead of all of the long fork, radical rake designs we see. I saw the Pantera Dragster before but never really looked very closely. I just noticed an ad for it again and the long swingarm jumped out immediately. That's exactly what I was talking about and just goes … [Read more...]

8 second Hayabusa in 7 hours

By Paul Crowe

How long does it take to build a quick drag bike? These guys took a stock Hayabusa out of the crate and in less than 8 hours made a pass in the 8's. For their "Crate to the Eights" challenge they actually uncrated the bike at the dragstrip and did all of the work right there. After doing the initial setup to stock condition and breaking it in on a dyno where it recorded 167hp, … [Read more...]

Custom Bike Builders Bootcamp

By Paul Crowe

Ever look at custom bikes and say, "I could do that," some of you might even think you could do better or at least you could if you had a shot at learning some of the inside knowledge of how the whole process works. You could get on "Build or Bust" and show those guys a thing or two if just once, someone showed you how the pros do it. Well, here's your chance to learn, at least … [Read more...]

F500 Ducati powered Fiat

By Paul Crowe

The motorcycle powered car is popping up all over. The latest version with plans for an actual production run of 500 is this Fiat 500 converted to Ducati power, the F500. Being built in the U.K. by Hartham, the first ones will run Ducati 996 power though there will be the option of 999R power and eventually they will also offer the fitting of a 'World Superbike'-specification … [Read more...]

Motorcycle powered Pro Challenge cars

By Paul Crowe

The number of different cars powered by motorcycle engines is amazing. After I mentioned Baby Grands the other day, I was reminded of another series of cars called Pro Challenge. These cars come in two versions, an oval racer and a road racer, the first powered by a Kawasaki ZX1100cc or ZZR1200cc engine while the road racer gets a Kawasaki ZX 1200cc (standard) or ZZR 1200cc … [Read more...]
