Modular Motorcycles – The Way Forward?

By Paul Crowe

Are modular motorcycles the answer to soft demand and a weak economy? The idea was floated on The Kneeslider a couple of years ago when I said the concept of the "category killer" was dead, the new model every company keeps trying to build, the one so successful it defines the category and sales skyrocket. The buying public has become so diverse, their tastes change so rapidly, … [Read more...]

Rayvolution GSX-R 750 Powered Trike Kit

By Paul Crowe

After mentioning the ZRX powered Sportcycle, Luka left a comment about the Rayvolution Trike from UK France? based Rayvolution Cars which brings the idea of plug and play up to date. This looks more like a sports car than a Formula racer and the power you plug in comes from a GSX-R 750 rolling chassis. The Rayvolution is a kit available in multiple forms, a Starter Pack, a … [Read more...]

Vintage Motorcycle Camper Trailer

By Paul Crowe

It's fairly common to see Honda Gold Wings or Harley touring rigs cruising down the highway with a trailer in tow, but the idea is hardly new. Once again, the dusty shelves of The Kneeslider research library yield this plan from a 1930s Popular Science magazine article for a motorcycle camper trailer by an unnamed German inventor. It isn't just a carry all for saddle bag … [Read more...]

Kawasaki ZRX Powered Sportcycle

By Paul Crowe

The Sportcycle was a 3 wheeler designed by Jim Musser, using a Kawasaki ZRX 1100 as the power source. Controls for the throttle, clutch, transmission and rear brake attach to the front assembly. The gauges are transferred to the cockpit. The front … [Read more...]

BMW LoRider – A Factory Custom From BMW?

By Paul Crowe

BMW unveiled their brand new LoRider concept motorcycle at EICMA in Milan, Italy and they're looking for feedback. Would you consider giving this bike a spot in your garage? They put together a very basic motorcycle, 100hp 1200 Boxer engine in a 440 pound package with upside down forks, 6 piston calipers, spoke wheels and naked bike looks. But, then, they took a page from the … [Read more...]

Oldsmobile Quad 4 Motorcycle Project

By Paul Crowe

Oldsmobile Quad 4 motorcycle

Chris Fairbrother has an idea for an all new sportbike, something very fast and easy to maintain, that doesn't have to rev high to produce major power; hence large displacement (2300cc). Oldsmobile, with assistance from Jim Feuling, developed an engine in 1988, the 2.3 liter, iron-block, four-valve DOHC aluminum-head Quad 4, putting out about 180 horsepower and tunable for … [Read more...]
