World Champion Indoor Trials Riding Skill

By Paul Crowe

Dougie Lampkin indoor trials riding

Dougie Lampkin, World Trials Champion puts on, what might be called, an extreme indoor trials riding exhibition, riding through your basic English estate … indoors, through hallways, up stairs, through the library and offices, storage rooms and patios, you know, just where you would expect to see a trials bike while you’re sipping tea.

In this day of extreme sports where high speed and back flips are getting a bit mundane, trials riding shows the opposite end of the skill spectrum, slow, precise motorcycle control over and through impossible terrain with a skill that makes it look deceptively easy until you think about what the rider just did. Unless you see this sort of riding in person, you’re liable to think it was a bit of photo editing but what for most of us is impossible riding, these guys do every day.

Dougie Lampkin will be putting on exhibitions at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, July 11, 12, 13 and they have the video posted over on their site.

Thanks for the tip, Mike!

The first time I saw a Trials rider walk a bike up a side of a bolder I was amazed . I guess If you live in a big enough house you could ride all day ! 🙂

Gas-Gas TXT300, if I’m not mistaken. Watching a Trials rider go at it is enormous fun.

This is absolutely freakin’ awesome! I’ve got it “saved” in a tab in my browser so I can watch it from behind my school’s firewall. Part of me wished he got destructive but it was full of win nonetheless!
