Triumph Rocket 3 Turbo

By Paul Crowe

Turbo Rocket 3You start with a Triumph Rocket 3, all 2294cc and 132 rear wheel horsepower of it, add one turbo from Turbo Connection and what do you get? Well, from the looks of it, one helluva fast and fun street machine. The iBoost turbo unit with 8 pounds of boost produces 203hp and 215 foot pounds of twist. Price of the kit is $5395. The same price will get you the same type of kit for a Harley Davidson V-Rod which produces 170hp.

Turbo Rocket 3 closeup of turboWhat’s really nice about these kits is the power is always there, no buttons to push or bottles to fill, just roll on the throttle (carefully!) and grin. I’ve never been a nitrous fan, I like a bit of mechanical wizardry that does the work. Of course, you get some computer mods with the kit, too, so everything does what it’s supposed to. The turbo is small and fits on the bike without major remodeling. On the Triumph, the turbo is almost hidden, on the V-Rod it’s out for the world to see but it’s a clean installation and looks good.

I like the Triumph version because the turbo is out of the way, the bike is overbuilt in stock form (huge tire, very solid engine, very low compression ratio), and they mention in the article that there’s virtually no lag.

I called & requested installation instructions.
It seems like your average knowledgeable
shade tree mechanic could do the job.
I maybe getting one when my warranty
runs out some time next yr
    Good job Mr Olsen !

I OWN AN 2006 ROCKET 3 AND AM NOT SURE WHAT ROUTE TO TAKE- TURBO OR SUPER CHARGER FOR MORE PUNCH.I DONT WANT TO BLAST AROUND ALL THE TIME,JUST WHEN I HAVE THE NEED FOR SPEED.WHAT WILL EITHER APPLICATION MEAN TO MY GAS MILEAGE.WHICH IS MORE RELIABLE AND DEPENDABLE AND LESS STRESSFUL ON THE ENGINE. I LIVE IN ALEXANDRIA VA.22309, CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANYONE WITHIN A 100 MILES WHO CAN COMPETENTLY PERFORM THE UPGRADE TO A TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER FOR A STREET BIKE,THAT WILL LOOK GOOD AND FUNCTION WELL. HOW MUCH $HOULD I EXPECT TO $PEND TO TURN MY ROCKET INTO THE LOC-NESS MONSTER.
