After my previous posts on a modified Honda GL1000 and GL1200, Randall Washington thought I might be interested in his bike. Randall runs a business by the name of Randakk’s Cycle Shakk, where he offers various parts and services for the Honda GL1000. His primary test mule for developing nifty new stuff is what he calls his Honda GL1000 Endurance Special and it looks very well conceived.
The bike is a 1975 Gold Wing with a long list of modifications. The original builder was Mike Barone who added things like a Ducati front fender and Ducati mufflers, Corbin seat, a modified Suzuki fairing and lot more. After Randall bought it, he mounted dual Weber carbs and then many, many smaller pieces to the engine and body to create what I think is a pretty sweet looking GL.
Adding pieces is easy, but adding the RIGHT pieces and making the whole bike look right and work well takes a lot more effort.
The Honda GL1000 fans seem to really like these old bikes and they do some excellent work. Nice bike.
