Motorcycle Manufacturing Equipment Sale

By Paul Crowe

Swift Motorcycle Company equipment saleSome companies scaled up their manufacturing operations when the custom motorcycle boom was in full swing and now, they have a lot of equipment not getting much use. Swift Motorcycle Company is one of those builders and it looks like a they have a pretty sizable equipment and parts inventory up for sale.

There are sprockets, S&S engine parts, frames, clutch assemblies, CNC milling machine, pallet rack, valve spring press, it’s quite a list, just about everything you would expect to find in a motorcycle manufacturing facility. The sale is being handled by JG Resources and when I spoke to them they said Swift was scaling way back, keeping the basic equipment and selling off the rest.

If you’re interested in picking up some shop equipment for building motorcycles, you might want to check out the sale, it’s in Phoenix, Arizona.

Isn’t Swift the entity that bought all the Excelsior-Henderson factory parts, tooling and IP?

I’ll buy it. really can’t make a down payment though, but when business starts rolling I will make small payments. Don’t know if that qualifies me as a doer….

It’s a shame as Swift had a really nice bike but the custom market is in the tank. These companies are about 3 years late but they should have been doing a custom bagger with the wide rear and a 21 front and the better than HD engine like they used in thier other bikes. It would cost no more that thier other customs but would attract a different crowd.

FYI, Swift via Jerry Moyes the owner did purchase parts of Excelsior-Henderson in the early 2000s, primarily parts, accessories, assembly line, old and new motorcycles, etc…Swift never purchased nor had rights to any intellectual property (i.e. patents, trademarks, etc…) In the 2002-2010 time frame, they subsequently sold either in bulk or individually anything they had related to Excelsior-Henderson, however the Moyes family appears to have retained some of the old collectible museum bikes that EH owned at one time.
