Mission One Testing and Packing for TTXGP

By Paul Crowe

Mission One last minute testing before departure
Mission One last minute testing before departure

Just got a note from Ed at Mission Motors about a new video that shows some last minute preparations and packing before they head off for the TTXGP. I can’t get over how these bikes are looking like serious race bikes, not just nice for an electric motorcycle, I mean really serious motorcycles. Think about how far the guys at Mission Motors and all of the other teams have gone in the development of electric motorcycles in a very short time. This will be interesting.

For those of you interested in watching the Isle Of Man TT, not sure if they’re covering the TTXGP, or idf you can get ITV in Australia or America,
    http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2009/May/may2909-50-hours-of-tt-coverage/

if not you’ll have to resort to this,
    http://www.iomtt.com/TT-Live.aspx
which gives you all the timing data and what not as well as a Radio style coverage

IIRC all the bikes must be for sale after the race for at or under a set price. if that is so i hope that you will keep us informed Paul of who buys what bikes.

i really hope that this will improve the access to electric bikes in local markets.

Taxman, That only applies to the “production” racers i think, the really nice stuff they get to keep.

This is an important event and no major US channels are covering it (none that I can find). I would have thought at least Speed channel would have live coverage. If anyone finds an easily accessible and free (live, or not so live) broadcast, please post info. I really want to see this!

I hope that Top Gear has cameras on the ground, and in the air 😉

I just saw this mention over on RRW: http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=36796

It looks like some of these bikes will be competing in the US. Would be cool to get a chance to see them at a local track.

Paul, if you can get any more information on what will be going on in the US, I think your readers would be interested.

LOL! I just logged back on and saw the story. I thought: “Either he’s the fastest keyboard in the west . . . or he was already working on it.” Thanks!

Wish they would stop putting sound tracks over the top!!

I don’t mind the music, but boy that bike sounds cool, it would be great if they did have a bit more of the location sound in the videos.

Miles, even though Hammond and May own and love bikes, Clarkson hates them, although he did seem to get it when riding the Vespa in Vietnam and has often used his editorial control to limit bike stories or rubbish them in relation to guests or the other hosts. They all also seem to have quite a hatred of electric vehicles, but this is probably more just about the fun of the show.

That said, Clarkson does have a property on the Isle (probably for tax and speed speed limit reasons) and hopefully will see the event and maybe report on it.

I am in Australia too and there does not seem to be anything in the media about it over here. I know someone in the events corporation in my state and have tried to convince him of the merits of having something like this over here, but people just do not seem to get it.
