Honda DN01 in Tokyo

By Paul Crowe

The Honda DN01 automatic sports cruiser looks ready for production which is what Honda indicates is their not too distant plan. Notice in this photo the lack of gearshift. I still think the first time you ride one of these it would take some getting used to. photo courtesy Gaijin Biker … [Read more...]

Suzuki Stratosphere in Tokyo

By Paul Crowe

The Suzuki Stratosphere is one bike a lot of us would like to see in production, or at least the engine if nothing else. It's been a while since we had a straight 6 cylinder engine in a motorcycle and this one is an 1100cc DOHC that should be one smooth beauty. The Stratosphere features 4 LED headlights and power windscreen. … [Read more...]

Yamaha Gen-Ryu hybrid in Tokyo

By Paul Crowe

The Yamaha Gen-Ryu hybrid motorcycle has that Blade Runner look, the perfect bike to ride while chasing replicants, hybrids in their own right. I didn't notice when I first looked but the front wheel is mounted on a single side. The headlights, all 5 zillion of them, should melt most anything in their path. Is any part of this bike, other than the hybrid power train, … [Read more...]

MAXAM 3000 in Tokyo

By Paul Crowe

Our intrepid reporter on the scene in Tokyo, was at the Tokyo Motor Show and sent these photos of the MAXAM 3000. I said it was big, but it looks like it's designed to be a 2 wheeled pickup truck! Look at the size of this thing. Take off the covers and you have a truck bed in the back. I wonder if a camper top is available. Maybe it's me but it looks really unwieldy, and did I … [Read more...]

New Yamaha Vmax from Tokyo Motor Show

By Paul Crowe

The advance ticket holders are already spewing out loads of photos from the Tokyo Motor Show, we hope to have some of our own shortly, but in the meantime, you might like to see these, a design study of a new (hold your breath!) Yamaha VMax! (Or is that a Star Vmax? yuk!) This was noted briefly on the Yamaha website but here are the photos. This is not the final design, … [Read more...]

Yamaha DEINONYCHUS 2WD electric bike

By Paul Crowe

The DEINONYCHUS is interesting. Electric motors in both wheels and a flexible frame that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally to suit rider size and riding conditions. Electric drive is very appealing for the 2WD ability the in-wheel motors afford and I would expect to see more work done in this direction. Think trials bike or offroad capability. On display at … [Read more...]
