Kawasaki Factory Auto Racing

By Paul Crowe

Kawasaki factory auto racing

Do you remember the Kawasaki race car? No, I didn’t either. Kawasaki makes powersports products, … motorcycles, personal watercraft, ATVs, they make small engines and power products, industrial equipment, too, … but when did they ever build a race car? Kawasaki’s Early Years Few seem to know very much about Kawasaki’s early years in the States. Entering the U.S. … [Read more...]

Buell XBRR

By Paul Crowe

Buell is building a factory racer for Formula Xtreme. The non street legal racer has been designed and purpose built to compete with the other teams at the highest levels. Specs are 150 horsepower from the 1339cc V twin, 362 pounds, five speed, chain drive on 17 inch wheels. The carbon fiber bodywork was refined in the wind tunnel and it looks good. Stopping chores performed by … [Read more...]

Custom Vmax with R1 Ducati and Triumph parts

By Paul Crowe

With all of the new Vmax talk, it's interesting to see what current owners are doing to the originals. Cruising through the ebay listings I came across this custom Yamaha Vmax and I kinda like it. The owner installed a Triumph single sided swingarm along with the Triumph wheel and connected it to a chain drive conversion. A Ducati Monster tank was reshaped so the Vmax scoops … [Read more...]

Bladekart – Honda Fireblade powered go kart

By Paul Crowe

Putting their heads together they came up with the BladeKart Project. Seems perfectly reasonable to me, you take a 900cc Honda Fireblade engine, build yourself a very nice TIG welded frame, … [Read more...]

Ecosse promising two new motorcycles

By Paul Crowe

Ecosse Moto Works, makers of the Heretic, are set to introduce two new models, the X-4 and X-5, both powered by American V-twins. According to an article in Robb Report, the X-4 "recreates the KR759 Road Racer with a bad ass 1960s attitude" while the X-5 "is a radical 21st century transfiguration of the X-4." A couple of rough sketches give very vague indications of what the … [Read more...]

A Real Monster V Twin Motorcycle

By Paul Crowe

There's been a continuous move towards larger and larger V Twins. The chopper guys have been building large displacement engines and 2000cc bikes are available from the factory. Well, suppose you just cut to the chase and go big, REALLY big. You take a 9 cylinder radial aero engine, remove 2 cylinders and make a motorcycle engine. Then you build a suitably large bike to wrap … [Read more...]
