Suzuki took their M109R power cruiser, turned it over to the folks at Cobra Engineering and came up with a bike that's leaner, lighter and even more performance oriented than the cruiser they started with. The M109R is a cruiser built to highlight the engine but at 700 pounds, it's a bit on the heavy side. This custom has the appearance of a bike taken down to fighting weight … [Read more...]
S&S Cycle Engines Get EPA Certification
S&S Cycle makes a lot of engines used by custom and kit builders and they just received EPA certification for all three of their V-Series engine families. Last year, as we noted on The Kneeslider, the EPA issued new guidelines that caused a lot of concern in the custom and kit bike builder market and among anyone that had the desire to build more than one bike. According to … [Read more...]
Hagane Tilting 3 Wheel Custom Yamaha Scooter
At the Tokyo Auto Salon, held last weekend, this custom 3 wheel scooter was shown, based on a Yamaha Majesty. It's called the "Hagane" and the original Japanese article notes the display suggested they would be producing this, possibly later this year. I can't really figure out who actually did the work, was it a custom shop, was Yamaha involved in any way? No matter, the … [Read more...]
Supercharged R1 HighPressure by RF Biketech
Built too late for the Terminator movies, this bike would have been perfect. This is the Yamaha R1 "HighPressure" built by German tuning firm RF-Biketech. Other than the rather obvious blower and the rear tire which must be a 360, not to mention the front tire that's pretty beefy, I can't tell you much more about this. Their site doesn't have a lot of information about it, but … [Read more...]
Ransom Bikes – More Sport Choppers
We wrote about Wayne Ransom last March when he built Revelation, a Honda CBR929RR powered custom motorcycle that took the chopper idea and tossed the V-twin in favor of a sportbike sourced inline four. Wayne hasn't been sitting still since he's built a couple more bikes, one with Suzuki GSX-R1000 power and one with a turbo Hayabusa engine which gives it a bit more go than your … [Read more...]
Twindian – Twin Engine Indian Motorcycle
One of the comments on yesterday's post about the V4 custom mentioned the Twindian, a twin engine 1916 Indian. One look at this and I agree, it's far better looking and shows the kind of cool work they were doing a long time ago. According to the story on the site, the Twindian was built sometime in the 1920s by Bill Arnold who joined two 61 cubic inch 1916 PowerPlus engines … [Read more...]
