Ransom Bikes – More Sport Choppers

By Paul Crowe

Turbo Hayabusa powered sport chopper

We wrote about Wayne Ransom last March when he built Revelation, a Honda CBR929RR powered custom motorcycle that took the chopper idea and tossed the V-twin in favor of a sportbike sourced inline four. Wayne hasn’t been sitting still since he’s built a couple more bikes, one with Suzuki GSX-R1000 power and one with a turbo Hayabusa engine which gives it a bit more go than your average chopper.

One of our readers wrote in and pointed to a video interview with Wayne showing his bikes on the road. Wayne gets a little carried away with his numbers during the interview but I think the bikes are an interesting direction.

Thanks, Steve!

I fail to see the “sport” in this motorcycle. Love the fact that they are using an engine that makes sense, and is liquid-cooled, but my definition of “sport” in a motorcycle is one that handles well given extreme conditions. Ransom is sure taking some wild chances—and I certainly like that attitude!

I think this thing is awesome;just as raw as it can get:

and those intakes are cool…data 300 pounds and 200 hp at the crank…

I’d like to see the time slips. Very cool bike but what would VonDutch say about it?

the motorcycle industry needs more of this. heres a young guy thats doing his own thing, and promoting motorcycling. like his bikes or not, it doesnt matter. he’s building them and he deserves the respect for that.

    How does it handle?

The terms “sport” and “chopper” are, as far as I can see, mutually exclusive

The best of both worlds. yes i love the sound of the old school chopper but I like the idea of all weather riding not just shine and ride weekend worrier. the option to put that kind of power down when i want it is great. obviously its not a sport bike but common the performance combined with the chopper style is a huge step in the right direction. Oh and finally the most important part is the original styling . Yes others may have done some of each but no one has really taken this direction with the same conviction. Ransom, the new chopper from a real rider.

FINALLY…..Wayne thank you so much, I am currently building my second inline four cylinder chopper. Choppers are creations that deviate from the normal or standard bikes. I hope to be able to accomplish your level of creativity and foresight. Thank you again!
