Jay Leno and HD auction a Harley on ebay

By Paul Crowe

This was a creative way to raise money for the tsunami victims. Harley Davidson donated a Road King which Jay Leno parked on the Tonight show stage. Celebrities signed the bike and it was auctioned on ebay. Bidding got going in the last 3 minutes when it went from $200,000 to $800,100. The winning bidder was David Steiner, CEO of Waste Management. They plan to display it in the … [Read more...]

Valentino Rossi at Phillip Island

By Paul Crowe

Once again, as the teams test at Phillip Island, Valentino Rossi is on the top of the heap. Before breaking his own track record he watched as other riders had done the same and then went out and topped them all. What I really enjoyed seeing, though, is that second fastest is American Nicky Hayden on the Repsol Honda. I would like to see Nicky win some races this year, he has … [Read more...]

Home made jet engines

By Paul Crowe

This post has little to do with motorcycles but I think it's a great example of what a creative tool guy can do in his shop. Mark Nye has a business building attachments for heavy equipment, a good business, pays the bills and keeps him in enough tools and shop equipment to enable him to build stuff like turbojet engines out of truck turbochargers. Gee, I like that. His website … [Read more...]

E.J. Potter – The Michigan Madman

By Paul Crowe

With all of this talk of stuffing bike engines in cars and car engines in bikes and who knows what else, I recalled a fellow from long ago who gained some notoriety doing drag strip exhibitions, E.J.Potter. What most people remember of him is his Chevy powered bike, the "Widow Maker," doing smoke filled quarter miles. It was pretty neat. He had a small block Chevy sideways in … [Read more...]

Neil Hodgson showing lots of speed

By Paul Crowe

Neil Hodgson was testing some weeks ago at Daytona and was commenting on the speeds and how intimidating it was. He's been testing at Laguna Seca and was fastest among everyone there. The WSB champion looks to me like he may have quite a lot in store for the AMA guys this year. For someone who's been racing everywhere but here, he's been doing a great job on the US tracks, … [Read more...]

LoJack for motorcycles being introduced

By Paul Crowe

LoJack is introducing LoJack for motorcycles. LoJack For Motorcycles will be rolled out on a market-by-market basis in the United States, where motorcycle theft rates are highest. The product is available now at certified franchise dealers in Massachusetts and will be available in the greater Miami/Fort Lauderdale area by March 2005. LoJack For Motorcycles will also … [Read more...]
