The Round Engine

By Paul Crowe

The Round Engine is a new engine design being developed by VGT Technologies, Inc. in Alberta, Canada. This is not a normal rotary but instead is called a toroidal, with two continuously rotating pistons, an external combustion chamber and a rotating timing disc. The displacement and compression can be altered during operation by an engine management system. It's hard to … [Read more...]

Oxtar features roadracers as models

By Paul Crowe

The Kneeslider's European news bureau, (ok, I saw this on Susanne's blog) picked up these new ads by Oxtar featuring their roadracing boots. Nice boots. The ads feature three roadracers wearing Oxtar boots and nothing else. This is advertising at its best since we don't get distracted from the product by useless clothing and other items strewn around the room. I like it. … [Read more...]

Daytona Bike Week TV coverage

By Paul Crowe

Daytona bike week is well known to most everyone who rides and Speed Channel will be providing extensive coverage of the events this year and maybe showing some folks who aren't bikers just what all the fuss is about. Starting next Tuesday, March 8th and continuing until the following Tuesday, there's an extensive programming lineup. If you can't be there, mark your calendar, … [Read more...]

The problem with TDI over here in the states is that the more highly refined low sulfur diesel fuel necessary for these … [Read more...]

Segway XT off road transporter

By Paul Crowe

The Segway was pretty cool when it came out, self balancing and all, and it got lots of attention. After a while, the hype died down and at least one inventive fellow, built his own from off the shelf parts. So what do they do for a new model? The Segway XT, an off road version, has been introduced. Now I don't know about you but I never pictured the Segway as the ideal off … [Read more...]

Vectrix electric scooter

By Paul Crowe

New designs keep coming and now here's the Vectrix, an electric scooter with decent performance. Top speed of 62mph, range of 68 miles, 0-50mph 6.8 seconds, recharges to 80% in 2 hours, full charge in 3 hours from a standard wall outlet. It looks like a nice design and their site has quite a few variations including what looks like a race or sport version. For shorter range and … [Read more...]
