When Honda first brought out the Gold Wing it was a relaxed, though very capable machine which eventually grew and grew until it became the touring rig we know today. In more recent years, some guys began looking at the original Wings and had visions of a complete transformation, they even thought, with a careful selection of components, there might be a cafe racer hiding in there. Sure enough, there is.
This beauty, a 1977 Gold Wing GL1000, was completely stripped down and repainted. New upholstery, new battery, everything looks to be in very good condition and the overall appearance is really eye catching. If you roll in on bike night riding this, you can expect to have a crowd around you in short order.
This one was sold long ago, but there are always a lot of Honda Gold Wings for sale, so check ’em out!

I really like the look of the colour scheme. I was reading the ad on ebay and the details of the work are a bit vague. Especially the engine.

That Gold Wing sure looks great, but how can you put in all this work to make it look this great and not get it registered? And the seller is selling for a friend. Can’t say I would take a chance on this bike, even if it actually looks this great. That just doesn’t add up.

Selling for a friend is not unusual. Lots of folks don’t do eBay, have never done it before and don’t want to learn how and someone else who is more familiar with it does the listing for them. Happens all the time.
Any time you buy something from eBay or any other online venue, you should always ask questions about anything you’re not sure about. This one is no different. I’ve seen listings for expensive bikes and there’s only one or two photos or they’re all from one side and you wonder how bad the damage is on the opposite side. Sometimes it’s just inexperience on the part of the seller and they don’t think of it that way.
I think this one looks very good, the old Wings often hold up pretty well and don’t need an overhaul. If, as OMMAG mentioned above, someone is unsure of the engine, which the listing says was just serviced, ask for a video of it running or something like that. It’s an easy way to learn more about it. Sometimes you can arrange a visit or find someone locally who can check it out. It’s pretty much the way you have to do online sales if you want to do your due diligence.
Online buying and selling requires asking questions, but it can also be a great way to get sweet deals on bikes you would never find nearby.

Nice clean looking bike.
