Triumph returning to flat track?
February 13th, 2005 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"Noticed a short piece in Motorcyclist about a Triumph flat tracker being prepared for the 2005 season by Doug Horner of VMC Frames. A twin from the Thruxton is bored and stroked to 988cc then gets the full engine mod treatment, reworked head, lightened crank, etc. The flat track scene used to be a Harley dominated series (with Rotax power) and it would be neat if this new bike could get the Triumph name back into the fray. There’s also a note about it on TriumphRat.net. I hope this works out, it would be nice to see some more variety on the dirt. And if you’ve never watched one of these races and get the chance, by all means check it out. Sliding sideways around the turns at 120mph with a steel shoe on the ground is great action.
