Hayabusa and ZX12R vs. Modified Viper

By Paul Crowe

Some folks do not believe how fast,… how really, really fast, today’s bikes are. Here is a video of a lot of comparison runs between several different Hayabusas from stock to big bore and nitrous and one ZX12R, highly modified as well, racing against a Viper coupe with supercharger and lots of engine mods and 883 rear wheel horsepower. The stock Busa hangs with him, the Viper is really fast and should be with all of that engine work. The slightly modified Busa pulls away nicely, the big bore and nitrous Busa … just color him gone! Modified ZX12R, same as the big bore Busa. The chase bike had a forward camera that shows the road and speedometer, you lose sight of the needle after it passes 160mph. They have several different camera angles, some from roadside, some from the car. Just a few guys having fun. (Disclaimer: don’t try this at home, etc., etc., and this video is 30MB so if you don’t have broadband, just take my word for it.)

Ah, NICKSLICK’s Viper challenge. That guy (he posts a lot at CycleForums) has made a number of decent videos (most are solo bits from his native SoCal). He was featured on a television program on one of the High-Def-specific channels. His Busa has dozens of improvements, and not just to the power production.

    Gentlemen,

It doesn’t get any cooler than this! Currently have a V8 chopper (see v8choppers.com) with a modified smallblock Chevy, roller cam, lifters, rockers, Edelbrock intake, Holley, MSD, blah blah blah and of course a 150 hp nitrous shot. My other bud is running about the same with a smaller nitrous shot but a Weiand 144 blower. We’ve also had bigblock nitrous bikes (Boss Hoss) and some kickass smallblocks. Also ran a Boss Hoss trike with a highly modified 540 stroker motor and a BIG nitrous shot. We kill the stock ZX12R’s and ‘Busa’s but we need some room to do so. We cook tires out of the hole while the Jap bikes launch like a carrier jet. Heading out tomorrow to trade my Yamaha FJR1300 for a new ‘Busa after seeing this video. Wish you guys were in SW Florida. We’d definitely get along fine. Excellent! Total kick in the ass! Great job of sharing it fellas!

Great Video and very well done. Wish I was there to participate. I live near Daytona Beach and ride a ZX12R. Stock except for a Yosh Pipe. Plenty of roads to do that kind of stuff west of Daytona. Never thought a street legal car could run that good! Again great job guys. Why don’t they show this kind of stuff on “Two Wheel Tuesday”?
