Are you a good rider? I mean REALLY good, because if you’re not you would probably look a bit silly wearing these leathers. Yamaha is offering a replica of Valentino Rossi’s racing suit, same colors, same everything. If you want it in red or black or anything else, you’re out of luck. The specs on the suit are what you would expect, it has all of the good stuff, nice suit.
But, I have to wonder, who would wear this? If you are a racer, would you really wear a Rossi replica? If you’re a street rider, would you wear a Rossi replica? Think of the abuse you would receive from everyone. This might fit in some Yamaha collector’s garage or a dealer’s display area, but would anyone put this on and ride with it? I wonder. A helmet, sure. A jacket, of course. But the whole suit? But then Rossi has a huge fan club and when I think about that, I bet a lot of them would buy one in a heartbeat so it’s probably fine in that case. Hmm … interesting.

If I had: a) the money, and b) lived close to a track, I’d not be against wearing one to a track day… Why not? Nice suit, supporting your hero. Now, riding around town or on sunday with my friends? Ha! No way.

If they had classic 50th anniversary Yahama suits, I would buy one. Even if it had typcal Rossi stuff on it.

i would only wear it if it was just the jacket or if i lived by a track and raced but not around the city i would look like a squid

I had a normal Yamaha race suit, 2 piece. I wore it everyday. If it was 99 degrees, i waited till dusk to ride etc. I also had the gloves and boots (no longer offered). My helmet was just a normal Arai. I wore this gear everytime I rode my R1. I caught some flak, but I am not one to care really. If you want to ride in shorts and sandals, go ahead, but I don’t want to hear it. Anyway, I got smashed by a BMW X5 making and illegal left turn. It was under 30mph. My head, shoulder, leg hit so hard, and then I slid a bit. Keep in mind this was under 30mph. When it came time to settle with Mr. BMW’s insurance, they informed me that the racing suit was a “specialty item” and didn’t depreciate like a normal black leather jacket you would wear out etc etc because it was a motorcycle only item. Anyway all my gear was scuffed and the R1 repairs exceeded the cost of the bike due to impact and slide damage. I got enough to get a whole new suit. except the helmet, I only got like $200 because it was old. Had I wrecked in jeans and just the Jacket, I would’ve got hurt for one thing, and lost out on the FREE 2 piece racing suit. I may have looked like a Power Ranger, but I got up and rode home. That means more to me than any reason to wear a jacket only. I wish I had the Rossi suit, I would’ve got closer to $3000, instead of the $1600 for my suit and gloves etc.
