Roehr 1250sc Price Set

By Paul Crowe

Roehr 1250scRoehr Motorcycles has set the price of their new Roehr 1250sc at $49,995. When we last wrote about it in May, the final specs and pre production images were on their site but the price was still up in the air. Coming in at roughly $50k is about right based on what this bike is, a low production, hand built, 180 horsepower, supercharged V-twin American sportbike. Looks pretty good to me.

Thanks for the tip, Jason!

Nice bike, a lot of money and with the US economy dropping further everyday I think maybe this is bad timing.

….But its an absolutely beautiful bike and if I had $50K I would have one.

Bad timing? Is it really?. I think most folks in the market for a $50k bike are probably still in the market for one. It’s the average buyer of a GSXR, CBR or whatever that may be readjusting their budget a little more. This isn’t a gas guzzling performance car, either, so you get high performance, exclusivity and relatively great mileage, too. It wins all around. Whether it actually succeeds in the market, only time will tell.

If I win the lottery, I’ll buy one.

I think one of the biggest problems they’ll have is styling.

It’s not an ugly bike, but it’s also not very attention getting. If you see a Lamborghini drive by . . . even out of the corner of your eye, you know it’s an exotic, expensive car.

I have a feeling the type of people who will be willing to buy a $50,000 motorcycle will want something that stands out a little more visually.

Perhaps they should consider a large graphic that reads: “Hey! Look at this! It’s a $50,000 motorcycle!”

This is a cool machine, there’s little doubt of that. Personally, as a Ducati fan and owner, I’d save $10k and get a 1098 R. Yeah, getting parts for the Duc are probably just as difficult as for this thing, but I would feel a little more comfortable knowing that an established company is standing behind the product.

Again, it’s just my opinion, YMMV. Now perhaps if this was a Buell, or Victory limited production machine I’d be much more excited about it, but since I’m a broke father and husband it’s all daydreaming anyway…

I think its a good looking bike myself, but I’ll have to keep day dreamin bout it to, way out of my league. But if you think about if word got out to the right people, I mean I know average Harley guys that have 30-40 grand tied up in there bikes, and the main reason they say they only buy Harley is because its American made and not Jap. I myself enjoy my Jap ride but would def. consider this if I had the money.

Kneeslider, yes time will tell, yes even high income folks are showing buying restraint. I hope it sells but if it doesnt we’ll know why.

For roughly 50k I could buy the whole Buell line up . 🙂

What is it with the current trend of having all that clearance between the rear tire and the fender? Are there that many people using these bikes for jumping buses and need all that wheel travel?

Sorry, I think it just ugly.

Given the current trend of bike design with every possible mechanical device on the bike hidden behind a plastic aero shell I am glad that there are vintage bikes available that show off cylinder heads, carbs and exhaust systems. Mechanical devices are much more exciting and beatiful to me than another cookie cutter, bullet shaped, wannabe rocket ship.
