Stumbled into the TV show Pinks last night, and that’s the only way anyone would willingly get there, and watched two guys race for pink slips. They had an old Suzuki GS1100 I think and a Vrod. (Who would risk a Vrod against an old Suzuki?) Three races, best two out of three, winner gets the other bike. No times were recorded, no lights at the starting line, the host just raises his arms to give the go signal. It almost looks like they sneak into the drag strip while no one is looking to film the show. Harley loses to the Suzuki, no surprise in the real world but no slam dunk on that show.
It was almost embarrassingly bad. The Speed Channel has some really decent coverage of motorcycle racing and a lot of other good shows but recent output like Texas Hardtails and Pinks makes me think they have a bunch of summer interns creating the new lineup. Will someone please wake up, dump this garbage and get back to decent programming? Maybe they’re all on vacation.

I posted a forum topic on Speedtv.com (Speed Channel).
The post requests someone to produce a show about motorcycle shops that are creating/customizing bikes that have performance….get away from the hollywood angle and document the craftsmanship & engineering. No need to put an absurd time limit on these shops since most of us want to see a finished product that looks & works well.
Add some comments to the forum so it gets the decision-makers attention….
