Panda Monster

By Paul Crowe

Panda MonsterIt looks like Fiat and Ducati are getting cozy. Fiat has introduced the Panda Monster, a special edition Panda available only through online reservations beginning today. It’s inspired by the Ducati Monster 695 and will be limited to 695 units.

Ducati Press Release:

An exclusive product “Made in Italy”

Fiat celebrates the Ducati Monster 695 with a new exclusive product, the Panda Monster. The design of this limited edition car was directly inspired by famous Borgo Panigale naked: the Ducati Monster. The Ducati Monster introduced the street fighter concept: a unique design and a new way to live motorcycling. Its success has led to the sale of more than 170,000 Monsters worldwide.

This special limited edition is not available in Fiat dealers. As of today, April 20th, the Panda Monster is available online – reservations can be made on www.pandamonster.fiat.com . Each Panda Monster will be unique and numbered: 695 Panda Monsters will be produced, just like the displacement of the Monster 695 that it was inspired by.

The lucky few to obtain a Panda Monster will also receive a free invitation (valid for two people) to “Mad for Motors”, the Ducati event planned for June 9 – 11 at the Santamonica circuit in Misano Adriatico.

Derived from the Panda 4×4 (the best selling SUV in Italy), the limited edition Panda Monster is highly equipped and has a lively 70 bhp, 1.3 16v Multijet engine This automobile is distinctive for its determined looks – just like the Monster, this is a car with a sporty personality and bold styling.

Ugh! As an owner of a small fleet of Ducs, I’m getting more and more concerned about Ducati’s licensing efforts. I mean luggage, cologne, snowboards, and who-the-hell-knows-what-next–do we really need to slap a logo on everything? What happened to the mystique?

When you are in the Red as Ducati is, you need all the extra income you can get. It is a little much, but whatever keeps the company solvent so I can buy a SBK.

“fiat celebrates the 695” this almost sounds like a successor to the fiat 500… except at 695 cc, the engine’s too big….
