Like The Kneeslider? Try HorsePowerSports

By Paul Crowe

HorsePowerSportsAdmit it. You drive a car. Yes, your secret is safe with me, but I think others have probably noticed. No matter how often you ride, very few of us use two wheels to the exclusion of all else. Many of us have a long history of driving, rebuilding, racing and otherwise enjoying our cars, trucks and all manner of 4 wheeled vehicles, so why not embrace it? Try HorsePowerSports.

Classic muscle cars
Classic muscle cars

You’ll experience a certain familiar feel over there because HorsePowerSports and all of the positive articles, are written by … me. I confess, cars and I go way back, I was very fortunate to grow up when muscle cars first appeared and I had a lot of hands on time with quite a few. Judging from comments on The Kneeslider, some of you come from the same era and had many of those same experiences. So why not see what’s going on over there and share your thoughts and ideas?

Pratt and Miller Valiant
Hemi powered Pratt and Miller 62 Plymouth Valiant

HorsePowerSports is a lot like The Kneeslider, positive, sometimes technical and geared towards those of you who want to keep up on what’s happening without getting buried in all of the hype. You’ll read about things that don’t quite fit over here, like the Hemi powered 62 Plymouth Valiant I saw when I was at Pratt and Miller for the Motus intro and a whole lot more.

HorsePowerSports has been around for years, but there is so much going on these days beyond the world of motorcycles, things many of you would most likely find really interesting, I thought I’d let you know and share some of what I run across. Stop over and check it out, then make it a regular stop. I have a hunch some of you will really like what you see.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for the link! As an owner of a Lotus Esprit SE that is hot-rodded and a supercharged V-12 XJS, I appreciate things that don’t quite fit the straight and narrow road of stock stuff.

I’m wondering why they didn’t call it “Torque Sports”. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

There’s a famous quote allegedly from both Carroll Shelby and Enzo Ferrari regarding torque and horsepower. You’re the only one here who doesn’t get it.

      Look it up.

      Post it.

“Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.”

I believe they were referring to peak advertised numbers. It’s also ironic that those two people spent millions of dollars in search of every last bit of horsepower for their vehicles. Horsepower is found along every bit of throttle opening and RPM. Without it you ( and Enzo and Carroll) wouldn’t be winning any races. H-D and all the truck companies tend to use peak torque, measured at the crankshaft, to sell vehicles; I don’t see them winning any races.

It’s too bad I get personal attacks when I make light of perpetual debates.

There are those who truly “get it” and those who just believe what everyone else says.

I’ll check it out, even though I AM one of those odd people that doesn’t own a cage. But you never know where the next innovation in metallurgy, tooling or power will come from. So thanks for the opportunity for more information.

“Admit it. You drive a car.” – Nope, proudly two wheels only for the last 6 years!
I’ll even have a trailer for my GSX1400 soon to tow my mini-motard 😀
