KTM Introduces ATVs in the U.S.

By Paul Crowe

KTM enters the ATV market in the U.S.

KTM is on a roll. The KTM X-Bow car was recently introduced, they’re bringing Husaberg motorcycles to North America and now they’re introducing a new line of ATVs. They’re a bunch of busy guys.

The ATVs come in 2 models, a 450cc and 525cc, both single cylinder 4 strokes. Coming first to the U.S., they will be available throughout the KTM network beginning in the summer of 2008.

Press release follows:

KTM presents the first ATV models in the USA!
Ready to Race on four wheels! KTM introduces the brand new ATV models 450 XC and 525 XC. With the presentation of these new ATVs, KTM extends its range of products to include a completely new model family. And just like the two-wheeled KTMs, the brand philosophy “Ready to Race” was also firmly in the foreground when developing both the 450 XC and 525 XC ATVs.

The stand-alone and extremely light-weight chassis, exclusive use of highest quality components and the typical, purist and fascinating KTM design has already transformed these new models into the most dependable sport ATVs of all time.

And the rest of the world also has reason to celebrate: After the introduction of the new KTM model family on American soil, the all-terrain vehicles will be available via through the entire KTM sales distribution network from the summer of 2008.

The local KTM-Ducati-Triumph dealer is slowly running out of floor space. I wonder if the X-bow will also be expected to share crowded retail space with bikes and quads.

It looks like KTM is aiming squarely at the high-end, high-performance quad segment and neglecting all of those little kid 50’s that made them such a contender in the first place.
