KillaCycle Drops Electric ET Record to 7.824 Seconds

By Paul Crowe

KillaCycle drag bike

KillaCycle keeps raising the bar by lowering its ET at the dragstrip. Running at Pomona, it ran a 7.82 @ 168 mph! We’re getting into Pro Stock territory now, how long before they match the pros and beat them?

KillaCycle, remember, is an all electric motorcycle, no gas, no blower, no nitrous, just electrons. This is getting interesting.

It sounds like a giant electric drill, it’s as if Makita made a cordless drag tire scrubber! That is awesome. Do they have traction control?

i can’t wait until there is a production electric motorcycle for sale. i don’t care if it’s got a 300 mile range. more would be nice, but i’ll take what i can get. but lets keep it price competitive.

It looks like the Pro Stock bikes are running right in the 7.100 range these days. I wonder if KillaCycle can get there in the next year or so. It would be amazing, and a little weird, to see a top Pro Stock bike run side by side with KillaCycle for 1320 feet.

If this catches on, we won’t need ear plugs at the drag races any more! All kidding aside, this is amazing stuff.

Do you mean zapworld.com? When Zap purchased and then discontinued the EMB Lectra motorcycle line, Zap lost an opportunity to exploit a possible growing niche. Now they are just another NEV company with some low power scooters on the side. Hardly worth mentioning in this motorcycle forum.

WELL, I DID NOT KNOW ALL THAT. BUT THEY ARE BUILDING A REVERCE TRIKE. AND AT LEAST THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING. I WILL CHECK OUT THE EMB LECTRA. THANKS FOR THE INFO.

I’m not impressed. Electrons travel close to the speed of light. With all of those electrons, this bike should have been much faster.

So you are saying it should have been at the end of the track at the speed of light? The real focus is not the electrons but that the batteries are light enough and have plenty of capacity. This is considering that the major limitation of most electric vehicles was their power to weight and capacity of the batteries. Killacycle is removing that ceiling and becomes the first EV to break into the 7’s.

Comparing the Killacycle’s performance to the other 16 dragbike series of the same event. The killacycle outperformed all but 4 series. http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/anmviewer.asp?a=3590&z=13 Of those 4, they are .5 sec of competing in 2 series and 1 sec from the topfuelers.
