Hayabusa sets speed record

By Paul Crowe

John Noonan and record setting HayabusaJohn Noonan took his Suzuki Hayabusa to a new speed record for a non-streamliner motorcycle of 259.393mph. Non streamliner means just that, John was sitting out there like the rest of us instead of being wrapped inside a two wheel tube. The Hayabusa displaced 1350cc and was running a supercharger. John set the record on Wednesday at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Nice run, John.

Correction: That Busa is running a turbo, not a supercharger, our commenter was kind enough to point out. Thanks!

Actually, the Hayabusa in the picture is turbocharged, not supercharged. If you look at the big picture on the AMA’s site, you can see the smaller wastegate dumptube exiting above the larger exhaust pipe. Oh well, the AMA makes mistakes like everyone else 🙂
