Ferrari Motorcycle Concept Drawings

By Paul Crowe

Motorcycle design concept by Amir Glinik

The latest Ferrari motorcycle is still in the concept drawing stage and most likely, that is as far as it will ever get, but from an appearance and technology standpoint, it certainly looks like something the Ferrari factory could get behind.

UPDATE: A comment below by Mark notes Ferrari does not want their name attached to this motorcycle concept and told Amir to take it down from his site so I guess we’ll just call this a motorcycle concept based on an unknown company of Italian origin.

UCIO motorcycle by Andreas GeorgeadesPast “Ferrari Motorcycles” were usually theme choppers painted red with a Ferrari logo on the tank, though, Andreas Georgeades built at least one and according to some reports as many as three, actual motorcycles with engines from a Ferrari 308, making for an interesting bike and quite an eyeful with the transverse engine and exposed cam drive.

But what we have here, are concept drawings by Amir Glinik, who started with some Italian V12 pared down to V4 configuration and then slowly built up into the finished design. A lot of thought went into every aspect, including the multifunction hand controls modeled after the F16 throttle quadrant. Those controls, though, would have to be learned much like an F16 pilot learns to use his controls without thinking about it. Pausing to figure out what button or switch does what would be less than ideal.

Air intakes on the sides of the bodywork are active, varying the fin position to regulate and accelerate air flow as needed and even momentarily closing when high speed braking makes use of the extra drag.

The touch screen and information center on top of the motorcycle displays everything the rider needs to know as well as controlling suspension and drive modes, GPS and anti theft system.

Individual components were designed with cues from some Italian automobiles and the overall design is certainly unique.

Motorcycle design concept by Amir Glinik

This is a very impressive design concept that would look great if it was ever actually built. I love the look of the engine and how everything grows from it, sort of like a motorcycle seed.

Be sure to visit the website where all of Glinik’s drawings are displayed. He has multiple color variations and a lot of detail throughout. Nice work!

Thanks for the pointer, Bob!

Front suspension? heck where is the transmission?
    very cool concept though.

Id ride it. But the nose and headlights remind me of beetlejuice when the male ghost pulled his nose all long and poked his eyes in to impress the spirit world social worker…

No doubt that guy has fantastic 3D skills, anyway Enzo Ferrari would be turning in his grave: technical ideas apart, that bike really look as an ugly cetacean… And a bike must be beautiful, namely a working and exciting technical object in a beautiful shape. A beautiful bike is when whatever old you be, whatever your culture degree be, you are totally dumbfounded and making your mouth water when you see it whizzing or standing. Timeless beauty. What about you’ll think of that bike in twenty years? Up with the concept bikes, but they are becoming all the same thing. IMO…

    BeetleJuice , Beetlejuice , Beetlejuice …… 🙂
It’s definatly different . Art …. it’s in the eye of the beholder . IMHO .

Bleh. Definitely not my cup of tea. Looks like a strange mating of a chopper and a sportsbike. Nothing about it says “Ferrari” to me other than the color.

Wouldn’t closing the fins actually reduce drag by directing it smoothly over the surface, instead of through the highly resistant radiator surfaces and whatever escape route the designer provides?

Nobody’s surpassed the through-bike routing and rear-mounted radiator of the Britten.

Its awful purty looking but it also seems awfully long which would make it not very “flickable” through corners. And no place to sit your trophy wife! I demand a pillion that makes my trophy wife’s butt stick out just so!

Wow, somebody actually makes 3D pictures that look like the stuff that my addled adolescent mind got me to scribble on desks in 10th grade! I’m terrifically impressed.

And that exposed cam drive is such a great idea. Be sure to pick up a scarf from the Isadora Duncan Boutique to match the paint.

There are actually 5 Andreas Georgeades, (his friends call him George) special bikes. An “ASG” racer powered by a liquid cooled-converted to air cooled honda 600cc car engine built in 1969, 2 v6 2.0 liter ferrari Dino bikes, The ferrari 308 bike pictured, and his latest v12 CBX that will be running very shortly.

Other than the obvious Beetlejuice or “Spy vs. Spy” it looks to me like a modern Ner-A-Car.

Nice 3D detailing. Did Ferrari commission the rendering?

the bottom of the bike should be flat so when you pull up you drop it to the ground and rest it on the frame with no kickstand.

Very interesting concept, especially the engine unit.

I’d like to see this taken to Roger Goldammer and let him run with it.

Other than the ancient Testrossa intake grill, I don’t see it. Beady round headlights, banana shaped tale & nose, 3 spoke wheels (where’s the beautiful 5 spokes…see MV Agusta maybe?)…none of this speaks the Ferrari styling language. It’s bloated not sleek…the tires are too fat and the wheelbase too long to handle….back to the drawing board. The designer has his technical skills down, but needs to study his inspiration a bit better.

Its a Great looking Concept, looks very Ferrari to me. Obviously it seems to intimidate some people like it should.

I like the look of the engine and its symmetry. It reminds me of Moto Morini’s formidable 1200 engine.

It takes some clever engineering to get a 90-degree engine (or 87 degree) to look symmetrical while not making the wheelbase too long.

Great bike and the design ideas are awesome. A ton of thought went into the concept for this. Seeing the explanation shows the trees from the forest to me and the minute details that went into play. I like the idea of a wild button that is literally that, a button. There are so many checks and balances going into place today that this was nice to see.

I don’t want to piss-off anybody but just some things which I noticed which make it a concept and not a real bike to me; front suspension travel? does it have any? ( a “mistake” a lot of people make when making a design). when riding in the rain your crotch will have a lot of water coming down (a reason why “real” motorcycle never have that kind of shape, from the front wheel to the rider/fuel tank) When accelerating hard or braking hard it will be difficult to stay on the seat.
I know these are just details but these are important things when designing a bike and all motorcycle designers need to think off when making a design. The technical bits look great but the design needs a little more work to make it look like a Ferrari motorcycle to me…And a long wheelbase doesn’t necessarily mean it should have bad handling; a long wheelbase with a low CoG can have excellent flickability (ask Tony Foale). The 990cc MotoGP bikes had wheelbases of some 1480mm (because of the power, with a short wheelbase they would wheely all the time)

I think I read on the website that there is front suspension travel by way of a vertical shock at the steering pivot area….?

It appears that Ferrari now has stepped into the picture with attorneys at hand. Thus all the pictures / information have been removed from Amir’s website else he would face more draconian reaction from Ferrari in terms of using their name, etc. Too bad as it was a unique idea. Hopefully he redoes the concept images with the Ferrari monikor removed so their zealous lawyers can find someone else to harass.
