Female Mechanics Calendar 2007

By Paul Crowe

Female Mechanics CalendarHere’s something for the women out there who might like a little recognition for technical skills beyond the norm. Sarah Lyon, a motorcycle rider, photographer and mechanic thought it might be cool if someone made a calendar showing female mechanics in their usual work environment, something in contrast to the usual tool calendars or babes on bikes. We mentioned this project some months back while she was still gathering names and contact info so she could meet these women to tell their story and since that time, Sarah has traveled 6000 miles on her trusty Yamaha, criss crossing the U.S., taking photos from Kentucky to California.

The calendar has motorcycle mechanics, diesel mechanics, jet mechanics, a little of everything which is another way of saying women can fix things, too, and many of them do.

Sarah told me the calendar is ready now and goes on sale next week. It sounds like a nifty gift for that female in your life who knows how to wrench. If you happen to be a female mechanic, it might look good by your workbench, a nice way to let folks know you’re not the only woman in the tech trades.

I have always thought that a woman can do a lot of male jobs and this proves it beyond a doubt!
I really think we need more girls as they always seem tho have that extra attention to detail that is sorely lacking in a lot of workshops these days.
Got some of my own thoughts up as well and promoting the calendar as well on my blog.
