Duss V2

By Paul Crowe

Duss V2

Noticed this in Motorcyclist magazine and thought it looked pretty interesting. It’s the Duss V2, built by Roland Duss. Roland designed the engine himself after rejecting Aprilia and Ducati as too wide. It displaces 993cc with a claimed output of 120 hp and 76 foot pounds. Dry weight is 319 pounds! Belt drive, 3.2 gallon tank and supposed to be produced for delivery this summer. Price is $32,000.

Wow! A super light, high powered standard bike with modern style. What’s not to love? Were it not for the price, I’d be squirreling money away for one of those. Considering he designed his own engine, I can see why the price is what it is but it’s a bit out of reach for me.

    120 horsepower, 319 pounds= Rocket.

Had trouble with their Avant-garde web site. Would like to see a road test or more info.

At $32,000 it’s doubtful we’ll see this one at the local biker bar.

It may just be me but it looks like a KTM for 3 times the price

Looks good, if those claims are true then it goes quick. Once they start to show up cheap, then it might become the “look at my penis” bike of choice, for pure insanity.

I think the first production motorcycle over 30k trend is ridiculous. First one i saw was confederate, then Ecosse, now this guy.. i wouldnt pay 32000 for a first year anything, let alone first model.

The Ducati Hypermotardand KTM950SM will do the same thing for less, but I think there should be more supermotard inspired bikes like this one. Apparently Aprilia might produce a large capacity twin supermotard as well.

“wow. a photoshop bike with some dubious claims. sign me up.”

There seems to be a whole lot of “motorcycle companies” coming out right now with cad models or photoshopped pictures of bikes that do not exist and they all are making big claims about what they will do.

I would buy this before the Roehr that was on here recently though if it actually hit the numbers claimed (and I happened to have $30k plus for a bike).

I’m also getting bored with the CAD models that have these claimed big ponies between your knees. That beemer based bike that showed up here a while ago, they claimed some performance enhancement due to a specially designed exhaust, yet nothing had been made or tested. How can you claim this performance, when all you have to go by is an autoCAD model? It frustrates and annoys me, and proves yet again that before you make promises you must first make engines.

It appears his mechanical skills just might surpass his photoshop skills, if as such this is a “touched” image. The bike has been around the show circuit and is very real indeed.

The engine is milled out of aluminum. And it is real, see:
