DIY Panniers

By Paul Crowe

DIY panniersOK, it’s the weekend and you have a little time so break out the tools and build yourself some panniers. (the lawn can wait, there’s always tomorrow) If you’re planning to ride through Central America or maybe up to Alaska on the Pan American highway, these are just the ticket. Maybe you can do your own ride around the world TV show, why should that be reserved for the semi famous? Mount the helmet cam and preserve your ride for posterity and the Discovery Channel. Sign a book deal, get rich, get famous, sell a signature version of the panniers, we could go on and on.

This probably is better suited to the BMW GS riders out there who dream of donning their trusty Aerostitch, striking a pose with that faraway look in their eye and kissing their sweetheart goodbye while she holds back a tear. Of course, I’ve never understood that, I like a real bed at night, running water and flush toilets but maybe that’s just me.
