Make Your New CB1100 Look Like a Classic CB750 with This Kit From Whitehouse

By Paul Crowe

These 4 into 4 pipes complete the retro look

A few years ago I wrote about a motorcycle that looked just like a CB750, except it wasn't, it was a new Honda CB1100 fitted with a CB1100 Four K10 kit that swapped out the tank, side covers and a lot of other pieces to make the already somewhat retro CB1100 into a very close replica of an early CB750. The kit was from Whitehouse of Japan. The only problem at the time was the … [Read more...]

Bob Maddox is Still Pursuing His Pulsejet Dreams

By Paul Crowe

It's probably best to keep moving for a little help cooling those jets.

You have to give Bob Maddox a lot of credit, he's got a passion for pulsejets and while some people might learn all about them and be able to cite chapter and verse of their history, Bob is out in the shop welding and wrenching and making his own history. The first time we wrote about him was way back in May of 2008 when we noticed one of his early creations bolted to the side … [Read more...]

Low Cost LED Garage Lighting

By Paul Crowe

LED strip lighting for the whole garage

We talked about LED lights in the garage before, from some pretty expensive fixtures that might not make sense to the LED lighting I installed when I was building a new work area a couple of years back that takes up very little space and uses very little power, while still giving me a bright bench top. If I were doing it again today, I would probably use strips more like the … [Read more...]

Motorhead 2.0 – Working in the Garage is Cool Again

By Paul Crowe

Macchina - the Arduino based automotive hacking tool

Motorheads start young. Sure, someone over 30 or even 40 can develop an interest in cars and high performance and begin working on engines for fun, but based on past experience, it’s more likely teenagers who first get the bug, maybe developing a passion for a hobby or career that lasts the rest of their lives. As Baby Boomers, many of us lived through the heyday of hot rodding … [Read more...]

Builders Have to Build So Why Not a Custom Lawnmower?

By Paul Crowe

Full custom 50s style lawnmower

There's a builder over at the Old Mini Bikes forum, goes by the name Jeep2003, and he just decided one day to build something cool, a mini custom style push mower. Sure, why not? This isn't some reconfigured standard mower, this is a scratch build. The engine is from an old snowblower and the deck is the lid from an old smoker grille. He went the full 50s style custom route, … [Read more...]

Honda CB1100 Gets Retro CB750 Look with Conversion by Whitehouse

By Paul Crowe

Honda CB1100 converted to CB750 lookalike by Whitehouse of Japan

OK, this is pretty neat, a new Honda CB1100 modified to look like a CB750 using a conversion kit from Whitehouse of Japan. Whitehouse, you may remember, is the company that built the Dragon King custom from a Honda Valkyrie. They seem to have a knack for creating some pretty impressive customs and this CB1100 conversion kit, or what they call the CB1100 FOUR “K10,” looks like a … [Read more...]
