Blata fights Chinese copies

By Paul Crowe

Blata, the maker of pocketbikes and now MotoGP racers, is fighting a huge number of cheap Chinese copies of its signature products. We keep mentioning this recurring problem while other companies keep rushing to set up shop in China. China has a large number of companies that seem to exist for the sole purpose of producing illegal knockoffs of successful products. This problem … [Read more...]

Buell XB12X Ulysses

By Paul Crowe

Buell has just introduced their new XB12X Ulysses, what they call an Adventure Sportbike. I have yet to see this bike in person, my exposure is the same as yours on the Internet and in the magazines but I will say it seems to have a lot of good things going for it, enough, in fact, that I am getting that dangerous feeling of, you know, just trying one on for size. That, too, … [Read more...]

Harley Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer

By Paul Crowe

Harley Davidson introduced it's new models the other day but I missed this at first glance, the Harley Davidson Screamin' Eagle Destroyer. Looks like Harley has a special division just like the car companies, CVO or Custom Vehicle Operations, is the secret skunk works facility which created this beast specifically for quarter mile duty. The bike is not street legal and its … [Read more...]

Harley Davidson 2006 models

By Paul Crowe

Harley Davidson has introduced the new HD models for 2006. The release is pretty much new paint as far as I can tell. They have a "new" Night Rod that looks like a flat black Street Rod. Not a bad bike, mind you, but when they say new it's stretching the definition of the word. A couple of other models are pretty much the same idea, a little different combination of accessories … [Read more...]

Mid Ohio – the business of racing

By Paul Crowe

You couldn't ask for better weather, it was hot as it usually is but beautiful racing weather overall. Big crowd, new track records in every class, good stuff. Mat Mladin just ran away from everyone. There was a lot of good racing further back in the pack but Mat wasn't involved, he was off on his own. When you go to the races you get much more sense of the business it … [Read more...]

Honda Jet?

By Paul Crowe

Just yesterday we saw that Honda is planning a fuel cell motorcycle and now they announce the HondaJet. They must have one neat laboratory and R&D budget. They're making all sorts of new advances with auto engines, too. The HondaJet will be unveilled at the Oshkosh fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 28th. (That, by the way, is the best exhibition of aircraft anywhere. … [Read more...]
