Tucson Motorcycles V-Twin Racer

By Paul Crowe

Tucson Motorcycles of France has been working on a new motorcycle for racing against the other twins in Europe. Their plan is light weight and small dimensions to offset any power disadvantage when taking on the Ducatis, Buells and Aprilias raced in the big twin classes. Their first prototype, powered by an SV650 engine, has been out racing and served as a proof of concept … [Read more...]

Munch Mammut Replica

By Paul Crowe

Last year we had an article about the Munch Mammut replicas being built by Mike Kron of Germany. Over the weekend I had a chance to look one over closely at Vintage Motorcycle Days 2008 at Mid Ohio. Looking at a line of bikes from a distance the Mammut immediately caught my eye because it has a very distinctive shape from almost any angle. When I approached it looked exactly as … [Read more...]

Doublewhiz – Twin Engine Whizzer Motorized Bicycle

By Paul Crowe

For all of you small displacement, lightweight motorcycle guys, here's something I came across as I wandered around Vintage Days 2008 at Mid Ohio. It's called Doublewhiz for the twin engines it currently sports. Total displacement is 276cc. The engines are Whizzers, or whoever made them for Whizzer, and power runs through a 3 speed transmission. I'm not sure of the year this … [Read more...]

Wakan Motorcycles Track Racer Special

By Paul Crowe

Among the entries for the S&S Cycle 50th Anniversary Build Off was the Wakan Motorcycles Track Racer Special. It didn't make the cut as one of the winners but to my eyes it was the best of the bunch. It looks very similar to their Wakan 1640 we've written up previously, sort of a refined version of their earlier bike, and judging from the interest in V-Twin sport bikes around … [Read more...]

S&S Cycle 50th Anniversary Build-off Bikes

By Paul Crowe

The S&S Cycle 50th Anniversary Build-off is over and the overall winner was Hot Dock Custom Cycles. We gave you a look at the Ace Cafe entry a couple of weeks ago but S&S had quite a lineup of bikes built with their different engines. The bike shown above is the winner from Hot Dock. The winners for each of the engine types are: P-Series Krugger … [Read more...]

Gunbus 410 Cubic Inch V-Twin Motorcycle Completed

By Paul Crowe

Gunbus 410

The Gunbus 410 cubic inch V-Twin motorcycle is complete. The monster engine placed in a motorcycle frame of comparable size looked impossible and many who saw the photos were skeptical of the bike ever being finished but I guess, Clemens F. Leonhardt is one of those persistent guys who ignores the naysayers and keeps at his work. The fuel injected, 45 degree 6728 cc / 410 … [Read more...]
