V8 Motorcycles from Sweden

By Paul Crowe

When you hear of someone building a V8 motorcycle, you might think of Boss Hoss and the somewhat over sized bikes they produce. There are some really nice V8s built from a pair of inline 4 motorcycle engines, like the Drysdale V8, but Rolf Andersson of Sweden thought he would try to build something a bit more normal sized while still using an automotive V8. Using a Rover V8 … [Read more...]

Steve McQueen Métisse Desert Racer Replica

By Duncan Moore - Contributor to The Kneeslider

Steve McQueen was well known as a motorcyclist and, as anyone who has seen him in the film ‘On Any Sunday’ will know, a capable dirt bike racer too. What is perhaps less well known was that he had a great deal of personal input into the bikes he rode and raced. One such bike, and allegedly his favorite was a Métisse Mark III Desert Racer imported from the UK in kit … [Read more...]

Ace Cycle Car Update

By Paul Crowe

Ace Cycle Car

A couple of years ago I pointed out the ACE Cycle Car, a Morgan styled 3 wheeler powered by a Harley Davidson V-Twin. It certainly is! Loads of new photos of the ACE, in the original … [Read more...]

Yabsa 750 – Yamaha BSA Special

By Paul Crowe

Here's another example of the Yamaha XS650 converted into a very nice special with the street tracker look. In the British tradition of engine frame hybrids, this Yamaha engine resides in a custom frame built on the lines of a BSA DB34. The "Yabsa" that results looks pretty good. The engine has been enlarged to 750cc and modified with larger valves, Mikuni carbs, Carillo … [Read more...]

Ducati V8 Project

By Paul Crowe

Do you remember Dieter Hartmann-Wirthwein? He built that amazing little 125cc inline 4 Monkey bike. I guess Dieter isn't the kind of guy who sits around all satisfied with himself, he figured he could do something even better so he's busy working on another project, an 868cc Ducati V8, he calls it Ducati-Elenore. This is still very much a work in progress, you can see from … [Read more...]
