Another U.S. builder of cafe racers is Acme Rocket Bike. I first saw one of their bikes on the Ace Cafe website. (Every time I check out the Ace Cafe I go nuts over some of the bikes.) Looked really nice so I checked out their site and made a mental note to go back for a better look. When I looked yesterday, it seems they redesigned their site and all they have is a home page … [Read more...]
American Cafe Racers
I've made lots of comments about U.S. builders stuck in the chopper world, so I thought it might be a good idea to check up on some links recommended by a couple of readers. (Thanks Doug and Jesse) I'm glad I did. American Cafe Racers is the creation of Mike Cook, who has a wide ranging and extensive background with the likes of Dan Gurney's All American Racers, Cosworth … [Read more...]
Dualie rear tires
This was bound to happen. Peregrine Engines is a product line of Wayne R & D, Inc. Their press release: The radically … [Read more...]
E.J. Potter – The Michigan Madman
With all of this talk of stuffing bike engines in cars and car engines in bikes and who knows what else, I recalled a fellow from long ago who gained some notoriety doing drag strip exhibitions, E.J.Potter. What most people remember of him is his Chevy powered bike, the "Widow Maker," doing smoke filled quarter miles. It was pretty neat. He had a small block Chevy sideways in … [Read more...]
Motorcycle crate engines
We need motorcycle crate engines. For quite a while now, if you got the urge to rebuild a car, all you had to do is pick up a catalog from any one of a lot of companies, choose the engine you want, displacement, horsepower, mild or wild and with the stroke of a check have a completely rebuilt, modified and guaranteed engine sitting in your driveway a few days later. Even the … [Read more...]
