Mobec 3-Rod

By Paul Crowe

This looks like a Harley V-Rod that's been assimilated by the Sidecar collective until they became one, it's the Mobec 3-Rod. The sidecar has a carbon fiber body with a top that opens with some sort of electrical hydraulic mechanism. Full independent suspension and a Mobec duo drive with reverse, foot clutch and a hydraulic parking brake on the sidecar. Interesting design. … [Read more...]

More miles per gallon with Clap

By Paul Crowe

With gas prices right up there these days, be prepared to find lots of fuel additives showing up at the parts store and late night TV. A new additive, Clap, (yeah, great name) will give your engine the mileage boost you're looking for. What's really great about Clap (did I say that?) is that it's made from really tiny particles of ground up rock, a mineral called … [Read more...]

Ghostrider riderless motorcycle

By Paul Crowe

DARPA, the R&D guys at the Department of Defense, came up with a competition last year called the Grand Challenge. Last year, no one made it beyond 8 miles. Well, they're doing it again … [Read more...]

Tilting Vehicle concept

By Paul Crowe

Here we have one Phillip James, an Australian of considerable self taught technical skill, who has built a prototype tilting vehicle that drives like a car, tilts like a motorcycle and looks very stable. With a bit of work, this could be one helluva vehicle. He's applied for a patent which is a good thing because I think a lot of other guys are going to try to build something … [Read more...]

Exhaust driven alternator – turbonator?

By Paul Crowe

This is interesting. It's an alternator driven by exhaust gas instead of a mechanical drive system. The TIGERS Turbo generator Integrated Gas Energy Recovery System alternator can be spun up to 80,000rpm and generate as much as 6kW. By eliminating the mechanical drive and parasitic losses, they immediately gain efficiency. In cars and especially trucks, this can be a … [Read more...]

Smart Car soccer?

By Paul Crowe

There's a downside to being small. Of course this could be the beginning of a whole new sport. Is there a spray to clean them off? … [Read more...]
