Motorcycles at Wal-Mart – why not?

By Paul Crowe

As we said yesterday, the mailbag is great reading and Tom S., who sent in the idea for our post, had another closely related thought with equal merit. First, let's let Tom explain it: You're walking through a Walmart Supercenter, and there, between Automotive and Sporting Goods, is a small motorcycle. The decal on it says it's a Briggs and Stratton Sting. It's prep'ed … [Read more...]

Gas slides under $2.00

By Paul Crowe

This morning the price of gasoline in The Kneeslider's neck of the woods dropped to $1.99, first time it's been under $2.00 since May. The payback period for all of those hybrid drivers just keeps getting longer and longer. From yesterday's Wall Street Journal: Toyota applauds your willingness to spend $9,500 over the price of any comparable vehicle for the privilege of … [Read more...]

Expanding Honda’s motorcycle lineup downward

By Paul Crowe

The Kneeslider mailbag is definitely an interesting place to spend a little time, not only do lots of you see things I miss, some of you come up with great ideas. Comments on a number of posts have wondered why all of the new motorcycles are moving upscale. Big bikes, big dollars and sometimes way more motorcycle than you want or need. Suppose there was an expanding range of … [Read more...]

New Max – Italian motorcycle helmets

By Paul Crowe

Women and motorcycles, what do women want?

By Paul Crowe

This topic deserves a book not a post, but it keeps turning up, so let's open this up to all of you. I'm curious what the women have to say. A comment yesterday from Hanny over in the Netherlands said manufacturers should take more notice of women riders. I've thought about that before but what should they do? Motorcycle clothing companies are moving a lot more aggressively … [Read more...]

Motorcycle statistics

By Paul Crowe

The news is filled with endless stories about aging boomers getting bikes. As I was breezing through one more of these articles I noticed a few more statistics than usual and they were interesting. I also noticed some generalizations that may apply to some, but not all. Trust me, I know. Here's one: "Guys aren't wanting to go 120 miles an hour," said Gary Sipes, director … [Read more...]
