Honda RC174 Warmup Video

By Paul Crowe

We recently spotlighted the Honda RC174 replica built by George Beale. This little 6 cylinder GP bike was a wonder in its day, ... still is. One of them was at Laguna Seca last year during the MotoGP, someone caught the bike doing a warmup and put the video up on Google. If you never heard the bike, check it out. From the many spectators with fingers in their ears, it must be a … [Read more...]

S&S and Harley Davidson Reach Agreement

By Paul Crowe

It's always been a puzzle how S&S and Harley Davidson got along since there seems to be a lot of potential for complaints of trademark or patent violations, at least it seems that way to the outside observer. Well, it looks like there has been a bit of legal wrangling going on in the background, and the announcement today says the two parties have agreed to get … [Read more...]

Tul-aris Two Stroke Racer

By Paul Crowe

Since we're looking at interesting motorcycle designs these days, the Tul-aris is worth a look back. The Tul-aris was the work of Dr. Rob Tuluie, who designed and built this 2 stroke wonder about six or seven years ago. I remember when this popped up in the motorcycle press but it then faded away and I never saw much more about it. The fine Doctor, a Ph.D that is, worked for … [Read more...]

Driver Distraction Causes Accidents

By Paul Crowe

In a Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study covering the driving habits of 241 drivers for more than a year, distractions contributed to 80% of accidents. Think about that, bad weather, other motorists, bad roads and everything else contributed to less than 20%. … [Read more...]

Irving Vincent Motorcycles

By Paul Crowe

Oy! Absolutely stunning! A comment the other day on our Norton Motorcycles writeup mentioned the Irving Vincent, which, as it turns out, is quite a project. The Irving Vincent is being built in Australia by Ken Horner. Ken, who has his own industrial equipment company, thought he might like a Vincent for his own personal use but he wanted to combine current technology with … [Read more...]

BMW V12 Powered Motorcycle

By Paul Crowe

If 8 cylinders are good then 12 cylinders are better, right? We showed you the BMW V8 motorcycle the other day and now we'll show you what happens when someone takes a 5.5 liter BMW V12 and builds a drag bike around it. HMS Sportbikes, over in Germany, has been working on this project, taking the engine from a BMW 750i and creating something a little more sporting. They say it … [Read more...]
