2008 Yamaha XT660Z Tenere

By Paul Crowe

Yamaha is introducing the XT660Z Tenere in Europe, an all purpose commuter, touring, adventure bike and it has a lot of potential. Will Yamaha bring the bike to the U.S.? There's no indication so far and I have to wonder if the U.S. market would support it. Judging from the comments on our post on the Kawasaki Versys, though, I'd say they should seriously consider it. Motorcycle X Prize Ideas

By Paul Crowe

Is there enough room for advancement in the motorcycle industry that an X Prize like competition would make sense? Envision the ultimate motorcycle, what would it be? KillaCycle Electric Dragbike Crashes at Wired NextFest

By Paul Crowe

Bill Dube, designer and builder of the KillaCycle was giving an interview and demonstration at the Wired NextFest by the LA Convention Center. After the interview, in which Dube did mention he was not the usual rider, he rolled the bike into what looked like a little bit of water on the sidewalk and began a burnout. The KillaCycle, it should be remembered, is an 8 second … [Read more...]

Some of the Alfa Romeo experts out there may be able to shed some light on exactly which engine this builder used. Personally, the previous bikes … [Read more...]

By Paul Crowe

After my post on anodizing aluminum the other day, Mark Savory sent these links to some information on both aluminum and titanium. One thing I've learned since posting that article, from both the comments and these links, is that aluminum is NOT the only metal that can be anodized, it also applies to magnesium, titanium, and tantalum. The information in these articles, … [Read more...]

Vespa 750

By Paul Crowe

For the more performance oriented scooter riders out there, here's a Vespa 750. It's probably the result of a few spare parts, too much free time and beer. Whatever the case, it looks entertaining but I have a hunch, handling may be compromised a bit. Video after the jump: … [Read more...]
