TTXGP Video Teasers of Electric Motorcycle Racers

By Paul Crowe

As you would expect, with only one month to go before the TTXGP Clean Emission Grand Prix race on June 12th, we're starting to see video teasers of one sort or another with bikes flying by at race speeds or rounding a turn. None of these videos shows us a lot but every one is interesting, especially for the whoosh of air and whine of the motor as the bike passes by, quieter … [Read more...]

Bad Dog 215 Cubic Inch V-Twin – Update

By Paul Crowe

Remember the Bad Dog 215 cubic inch V-Twin we mentioned last year? Bill Price, the man behind the engine, hasn't been sitting around, he's been hard at work sourcing parts for the prototype and refining the design. I haven't been watching very closely and Doug Staab, one of our contributors here, just sent me a note to check out the pistons. Ho boy! Now that's what I call a … [Read more...]

1950 Vincent Series C White Shadow

By Paul Crowe

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering was held this past weekend and in conjunction with the other activities, Bonhams held an auction. I was curious about the results so I browsed past Steve McQueen's FIM international driver's license, which sold for $42,700, and instead looked over the motorcycles. The top seller was a 1950 Vincent Series C White Shadow which sold for $111,150. A … [Read more...]

Kawasaki Race Car Body Found

By Paul Crowe

Several years ago, I wrote about Kawasaki's 1972 factory effort to get into auto racing. He built … [Read more...]

Buell American Adventure Grant Contest – Write an Essay – Win a Buell XB12X

By Paul Crowe

If someone gave you a brand new 2009 Buell Ulysses XB12X, what would you do with it, where would you go? Buell wants to know, in fact, if you sit down and write a 250 word essay to describe your idea of the ultimate American on or off-road riding adventure, where you would go, the routes you would follow, why you want to take the trip and a little bit about you, you might get … [Read more...]

Virtual Motorcycle Companies – MFG.com – Virtual Production Comes of Age

By Paul Crowe

While researching another story, I came across MFG.COM and realized right away it was the connector between buyers and suppliers that was predicted in our earlier article from 2006, build your own virtual motorcycle company. At the time, Jeff Bezos of Amazon was promoting the idea of using resources and capabilities from others on an as needed basis, taking your idea and hiring … [Read more...]
