I just love the work these guys do, true works of art. If only I could win that elusive lottery, bah.

what does the “radial’ twin mean? sounds like a radial aircraft engine

With exhausts doubling as the swingarm, wouldn’t the heat affect the swingarm? maybe with that seat, you wouldn’t ride it long enough in one stretch to notice.

this bike leaves me cold. I mean, it makes me hot. I mean…why do some pictures make the bike look so much better than others? not my problem, if I had the cash I’d be buying a wraith. that radial twin thing is funny though. I think the idea is that it’s a “slice off a radial engine”. Maybe I’ll market a radial single….

The price poses an interesting situation, especially if the custom sportbike movement continues to become more prevalent. For the same amount of cash (or less), I’d be able to be build or pay someone to build a one-off bike that would probably perform better. I’d also be able to ride it longer.

$68,000 for a quasi-production bike? c’mon, the Brough wasn’t that disproportionately higher-priced than other bikes in its day, was it?

I don’t know why Buell doesn’t go that route with their exhausts… combining it with the swingarm. Looking at their Ulyses, they could drop the seat height, engine and tranny by 3″ at least, going where the underside exhaust is. The bike would have the same clearance but be far more manageable as a daily rider.

All that effort and they still manage to have an intake manifold that Burt Munro would have thrown out of his 1920 Indian Scout…
I mean, take one big carb, point it straight between the cylinders then try to turn the gasses at 90 degrees into the heads, haven’t these rednecks worked that bit out yet??
Or is it all just done so that the engine ‘looks’ like an American V-Twin?

It’s art. I can’t think of it as anything else. As art I think it’s beautiful. If I had superfluous cash, I’d buy it. Isn’t that what Jay Leno does?

It’s surely not my kind of bike, but it’s cool anyway.
    But 68K? In dollars?

Brian- If Buell went the Confederate swingarm/exhaust direction all of the oil that’s already using that space would spill out onto the ground. (Insert chuckle here)

I agree with aaron, the Hellcat looks awesome in some pictures, and lame in others (like the one on this post!). Very confusing…

I’ve seein it in person. It’s a nice looking bike. I think the price is absurd. Can anyone hazard a guess about what it costs to produce? How much profit do they make on this? i would actually pay 30k for a bike like this, but 70k? I don’ think the value is there….but it is a damn fine looking bike.

Let’s just suffice it to say, that the Bill Of Materials on a 2006 Hellcat is 29k+ Then, there’s over 120hrs in the build.
