A few years ago we showed you the TankGrip, a set of handles for your passenger to hold on to during your high speed riding maneuvers leaving you a little freer to move and inspiring some confidence in the mind of your back seater. Unfortunately, that company seems to have disappeared, but I just saw an ad for this accessory that does the same thing, it's called the 2-Up Passenger Bar.
It attaches to your tank with bolts, using the same holes that surround your fuel filler. It gives your passenger the same handlebar feeling of security that you have. The 2-Up is made from aluminum with a rubber grip surface to keep your passenger's fingers from slipping off.
This strikes me as a better solution than some others I've seen, but other than the photos, there's little info available. The company does have a video with some very annoying music, but no more info than what we have right here. Unless you ride two-up very often, you may hesitate to have this bolted to your tank since it isn't easily removable, but from the function side, it looks like it should work. Interesting.
Sport bike passengers can be in a precarious spot, this might help. How many of you would consider bolting on handles like this?

UPDATE: Reader Mark from Sydney commented below about the Vinx Grip, which, though similar to the 2-Up, looks even better because it has the same function but also has an easy on and off attachment ring. When not needed, you simply twist off, if you want it, twist on. Nice.

Hmm, I can see this working on sports bikes, but only when driven in a sporty fashion. No good for touring at all, I imagine, unless your passenger has the arms of a orangutang..
I don’t think I would want to be riding around with a passenger that is that unsure that they need something like this to feel secure. I wonder, does it come with a sticker for the back that says “Baby On Board”? Reminds me of something Ralph Nader and his safety Nazi’s might dream up.
Viewed the video and it looked like something that might be okay on some bikes even though it’s as ugly as sin. On others it looked like the damn thing sits too far back and up and it might give your “boys” some major grief if you were pulling an exit after hitting something immobile like a car.
Great idea, if you’re looking for unsightly fingernail scratches on the gas tank.

I agree with the first three comments, and add that it is a shame to spend $$’s getting a ride just so and then crapping it up with a neat little toy like this. I took the unspoken sentiment hidden under the three comments to the only obvious conclusion over 15 years ago….ditch the passenger pegs and anything that remotely resembles a place for more than one set of cheeks.
About that same time I decided it was only proper to give the females exactly the same opportunity to make an impression…on me. If the skirt ain’t got her own ride, she can load down some other guys bike. And if all it takes to impress her is a seat behind someone else, we wouldn’t get along after the first drink anyway.
But for those that must have a female with them at all times, it would serve the intended purpose.

And I have zero respect usually for any girl so easily won over…so if I don’t have any respect for them why do I want them on the back of my bike?
I prefer the two handles on a belt idea. I can’t believe my wife would be very impressed with being wrapped so tightly round me that she couldn’t sit back and enjoy the view.
You guys squandered your youths. Get a girl on the back and do what ever it takes to rattle her fillings out. She would always love you for it.

I agree with Paulinator. My girlfriends mom told her “if your going to waste your life on some stupid boy, make sure he has a motorcycle”. If a girl on the back bothers you cause is slows the bike down get a bigger bike.
I’m already humpin a 2010 VMax w/nitrous that goes through rear rubber every 2000 miles or less. I didn’t say slowing it down, I said weighing it down! We all ride for our own reasons, and if having wind in your face and breasts in your backbone fills your shorts, go for it.
As for rattling the gals teeth out for a thrill…been there, done that. Now she’s livin in a backwoods trailer and that kid ain’t mine!

I have one of these on my CBR929 and it is great. Easy to install, and a dream for the pillion. They are much more stable under both acceleration and braking. And I can still use my tank bag. They are a great idea, well done.
You’re right, it’s very similar, and the Vinx, as you mention below, is easy on and off which makes it even better.
I forgot to mention that the Vinx solution comes off very easily leaving just the mounting ring on the tank.
It’d be great for married people, retarded people, and few in between.
Triumph used to have a “parcel rack” on the tank. Not for long though. That thing will turn you into a girl if you have a collision and then you’ll have to be a lesbian to get a girl on the back. No thanks. (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

I am glad someone said that, I have a lot of thoughts on the comment about having no respect, but you pretty said all that need to be said. The other comments were amusing, that one was just disturbing.

I initially thought the same. The reality of the thing (Vinx) is that it is no different than any of the other stuff hanging around the front of the bike. Not that I have crashed it with the grip on (or off for that matter).
Solo, I ride with the bar removed. Two-up and both my wife and I are far more stable and happy, particularly under hard stops (no weight into my back pushing me into the tank) and starts (no drag back).
Thus, no different one-up and much better two-up. Note that this is on a high performance sports bike and on a less “aggressive” motorcycle your mileage may vary (as they say).
