BUB Streamliner
In the current motorcycle land speed record wars, the contestants have accomplished some amazing things, now running over 360 mph on the salt. However, going faster isn't simply a matter of more horsepower, you have to make sure every part of your machine is up to the task and at current speeds, the streamliners have outrun the design specs of the tires they're using. Think of a tire letting go at that speed and you'll immediately see why tires are in the front of everyone's mind and unfortunately, there are no tires on anyone's shelf capable of going faster, safely.
In a conversation yesterday, The Kneeslider has confirmed that a tire is now in development and is being tested for the purpose of running at the magical 400 mph mark. Of course, no tire manufacturer is going to invest resources in this sort of project unless strongly encouraged to do so by a competitor with serious plans to raise the bar. Stay tuned!
