Ducati CBX Custom by Dan Uhing - Update
October 11th, 2007 at 7:57 am by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
If you recall our recent post about the Ducati CBX custom built by Dan Uhing of Nebraska, (or Honda CBX with Ducati additions as some of you thought was more appropriate) you may also remember the photo we had wasn’t the best. Even Dan admits the rear tire was a little soft in that image and he wanted all of you to see some nicer pics of the complete bike and sent these over for your consideration. I have to admit, it’s a pretty sweet looking combination of Japanese and Italian engineering.
Dan really likes this CBX but he showed me a spy shot of another project already underway. It’s another CBX, of course, but this time he’s sourcing parts from within the Japanese motorcycle community (at least he is, so far) with pieces from a GSX-R 1000 and a CBR 1000RR. He also mentioned the word “turbo” but that’s not a firm decision at this point.
You know, I really like the way Dan thinks. If he keeps this up, he’s going to create a run on the market for old CBXs.

Wow, I love it! A modern cafe racer with a “monster” old engine (pun intended).

Love it. I had a CBX and the motor was just OK, not any faster than the in line 4’s of the day but fun to look at and nice power. This looks like a well done and good looking custom. Nice job.

I think the seat is about almost as wide as the motor. That’s the one thing I can’t get used to on the newer Ducatis.

Very nice! The motor is just so over the top.
My favorite CBX custom is Totti Motori’s “Pregnant Duck”
It’s either blown or turboed and it has 6 exhaust tips peaking out from under the seat.

C’mon, now, this is a great CBX custom with Ohlins and Ducati parts added - it’s not a Ducati CBX. The obvious intent was to upgrade a very cool motorcycle using high-grade, off-the-shelf bits with the rear swingarm and body plastic of a Ducati. Not even a trellis frame here.
We ride motorcycles (emphasis on motor) and this is a Honda CBX Custom. I hope Soichiro Honda (R.I.P.) is O.K. with this misnomer of one of his labors of love, the CBX motor, one of the sweetest sources of two-wheeled motivation ever.
Excellent job, Mr. Uhing.
