The Triumph Street Triple, based on the Triumph Daytona 675 which we mentioned a couple of months ago is now official. It has an expected MSRP of $7,999. I loved my t595 speed triple, but always thought it was a bit on the porky side. This might just be the ticket (until I can afford a Butale!)
perfect. I wonder what took them so long?
Yeah, cool bike.. i guess…but who wants to ride around on a machine that looks like a praying mantis?
Hmm. That price is a bit high. This bike is supposed to be a replacement for the Speed Four, which was priced at $6999, and is going to be competing with the Suzuki SV650, Honda 599, Kawasaki Ninja 650, etc, all of which are significantly less expensive.
I still want one, but this makes me a lot less likely to scrape together the money for one instead of picking up the leftover Speed Four my dealer has marked down to $5999…
I’m slightly underwhelmed by the design. I saw a Speed Triple in Performance Bikes a while ago that had a single headlight that looked much better.
Looks lean, skinny but muscular. There’s a couple guys with nicely massaged 675’s putting out 140hp to the tarmac, the possibilities are intriguing.
I just traded my SV650s for a street triple. There is NO comparison between the two. Street Triple has bags more performance, feels lighter, is more “revvy” and better brakes and MORE comfortable for me at 5′6.
OK my SV was nearly 3 years old but the demo ST3 had done nearly as many miles as my bike thanks to the hot demand since the bike arrived at the dealer.
I had to wait in line for a chance to ride it but it really was worth the wait. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole ride!
Can anyone compare the street triple with a speed four?
While the Street Triple is an awesome bike, it’s reliability issues leave me red faced in front of the Jap riders…. again. Takes two weeks for parts to come from the UK…. that leaves me needing a RELIABLE bike to get to work every day. The linkage bolt between the foot shifter and the connecting rod came undone twice, then plain broke. This was lucky, because I have no idea how long it would have taken Triumph to let me know that my rear suspension could fail at any moment! TWO WEEKS later, long after my suspension arrived… the magical bolt finally arrives. All this in less than 3k miles leaves me worrying how reliable my canyon scalpel actually is. Other than the reliability issue…. it is an awesome bike!
